Cancer,
It seems that there is so many new profiles with absoultely no information or photographs. As you know by registering a nick it gives people the power to vote, so can I make a suggestion that voting is a priviledge to be earned on the site?
At the moment there is so many profiles lacking in information, and which I believe has obviously been used to attain voting status. As another idea, is it possible to weed out the profiles and their votes that
were created?
I don't want to impose any requirements for user status. If you register for this site you can vote or post. If you choose to have a crappy profile that is also your choice ;)
Might I add, some people don't have, for example, a pic that would match this site (I, for one, don't have a good photo at the moment). Would it be fair to disable voting options if people just don't have a way to improve their profile? I don't think so.
I agree with everyones comments. As each has is merrits.
But Em, I feel that the best course of action is to allow the profiles and votes to be as they are.
As the site grows, and as do the votes, those couple of profiles created for adding votings, or boosting profiles scores will mean very little in the scheme of things.
Ultimatly it will end up with votings looking some what like vampirefreaks etc, and we all know there, one extra score doesn't affect things very much.
On a personal note, the votes are what they are. I like to look at them, as I am curious, but it all come down to the saying "each to their own" what one person likes, isn't the same, because if we are all the same, the world would be boring.
These are all the cliche` I can come up with in my limited knowledge of them! hehe.
Maybe, there is something specific that might need attention Em, instead of every registration, as something must have occured to bother you into typing action. This might warrant attention, no?
A part from all this, I await eagerly for Cancer (yes you) to add more things to view, read, and of course shop for *hint hint*
I added 18 items last night.. I will be adding more tonight. But there are a few areas of the site I want to re-program today.
Shifter: Please re-read my suggestion, you will see I *suggested* that voting rights be a priviledge to be earned, and the word *disabled* was not used and in that context as you put it, means something else entirely different than I orginally intended.
I would just rather people be honest and not hide behind a mask... but that's my choice, and my values... but I know everyone has the freedom to be who and what they choose to be and decide what to put in their profiles or not. I just do not give a lot of credit for *empty* profiles and in that case question *why* people should ever bother creating one. That is really what my concerns are.
I have probably created empty profiles on dozens of sites. Usually when I wanted to download something or post to a posting board.
Very few organizations require public voting. I don't see what the big deal about keeping one's vote private is. I added the optional comment feature for people who did not want to remain anonymous.
