as u probably know, i'm a math teacher.
and i dicovered that my students give more credits to the result given by a calculator(even with a wrong typing) than to a proven result...
i started to think what is a true result 4 them?
and further: what is true or what is truth?
or does kind of a truth even exist?
what do u all think?
4 exemple, does god just exist bcoz some churchman said so?
is there a riot in 'cote d'ivoire' just bcoz journalists says so? (they could pay people to give those 'spontaneous' interviews)
An interesting thread indeed, thankyou!
Well, its perspective more than truth. Sometimes a lack of personal faith can lead to finding truth in soemone elses reality, or relying on somethign or someone percieved to always be right i.e. a calculator to one of your students or when you are a child, and you think everything your parents say is true and right because as a child I at least percieved that in my world they where my truth.
I think truth is what you feel comfotable believing... in the religious aspect you brought up, truth for me isnt Christianity as I dotn feel comfortable puttingt my faith in it being true.
I dont know if that makes any sence, but then again thats only my truth on the matter, someone elses may be completely different leading to a rotating question x x
When I was a kid I used to ask my mom repeatedly where we lived.
She'd say the city and the state and I'd say, "But how do you KNOW? It could all be somthing else, and you were just told that ..."
I was never satisfied with the "It just is." *shrug* Future conspiracy theorist in the making I guess. ::chuckles::
Your interesting Echo and right. Truth is someone else's reality, but it is only particular someones : those that are gifted with seeing truth. (lol, I just reread that sentence, it's a circular argument, the chief tool of the wanker.) For those of us who are not gifted with seeing the truth, all we can do is to try and absorb the beauty and knowledge of those who are gifted.
If any of you have the chance to chat with ob1, you'll find out why I rate him as one of the gifted. (Of course he mightn't be gifted, it might just be the way his mind is disciplined as a Math teacher.)
PS. Req, moms are always true!
PPS. Calculators are never true!
I've never understood the whole God being true just because the churchman said so deal, personally. We live in a world so full of lies and deception that it is really hard to find truth in most cases. I've found that even though someone might say something's the truth, it could still be a lie, so it's really up to the individual to decide what they think is true. Even some supposed proven facts tend to turn out false on some occasions, you just never know, and some things supposedly proven false turn out to be true, or so we think. You just never can tell.
besides of what miz is saying, i can't c the truth, just some of the lies surrounding us....
does it make me a seeer?
