I'll have to dig through my Celt books to find an old favorite story for you one day when I'm not still trying to figure out the new (read:screwed up) computer system for classes.

well I speak drunkard also.....but not while researching
thx
I will start it off with one that has caught my eye a few times over the years and has even been used in a few different books
Polish Legend : Rusalka - Polish Tree Spirit
In the folk legends of pre-Christian Poland, Slavic water spirits called Rusalka were thought to inhabit the forests and lakes of western Poland. Rusalka were thought to be the spirits of murdered girls, which seek to exist by drawing the energy of life from nearby living things. At certain times of the year Rusalkas come out of the water and sit in the branches of willlow and birch trees. Rusalka's apparently miss the human world and want to share the company of men asking them for bread, salt, onions, and sexual favours! Men who were seduced by her died in her arms.
Similar legends of a female tree or water dwelling succubus exist all over the Slavic world; some stories say they are the spirits of brides who died on their wedding night; others that they are the souls of young women who died an unnatural or violent death and now take their revenge on any man they find near the lake or forest they inhabit.
hope this sparks something
aright one of my legends is that of the Ishcabibal this is a subhuman species that lives under cattle guards( grates in roads that keep cattle from going past them) these creatures get energy from the sun so they stick thier fingures through the grates and if u dont honk your horn when you cross the guard(so they can pull thier fingers down) youll break thier fingers and they will die killing an Ishcabibal brings on horrible luck samtime even the death of a pet
ya its a little stupid but the one time i didnt honk i was headed out to a cave party( party in a cave) we got busted
hhhmmm..legends!

I have heard of vodyanoi and dvoromvio before....but would love to hear more info about them as what I have heard is sketchy at best....
I always liked the stories about irish fairies called Banshees. They have an awful wail and they scream outside doors or windows at houses were a family member is about to die. People get very upset when they here their cries, because someone they love is about to die.
