How would you define omnipotence?
Do you think it is something that can be achieved?

Merry Christmas to all that celebrate it!!!!
There is only one definition; Omni = All
Potence = Powerful= All powerful.
But sometimes it's confused by 'The power to do absolutly anything'. Hence it should not be considered to be sheer and unaldulterated power.
More to the meaning of the 'omnipotent' one has the power to do what needs done. Refered to 'God' in alot of scripts.
So there can be only one person who is truly omnipotent, God. After all he is to be considered the most powerful.
but at the same time! The doctrine is not only unscriptural, but is also a reflection upon God's love and omnipotence. Would a God of love allow weak, mortal man to be dominated by a powerful, depraved fallen angel if He has the strength to destroy him? And as God is omnipotent, why does He not rid Himself of the devil, if he be a fallen angel in heaven?
At the end of the day.. This job is not vacant and shall never be so.. So try settling for being Omnivorous for now....

*places tongue firmly in cheek*
Sure! Omnipotence is attainable! As long as you're willing to accept the itty-bitty living space defined in this small print here ... *points to Genie clauses of attaining Universe humbling power*
in response to the God Devil comment
i think that God needs the Devil or some form of him in one way or another in order for us to have free will, if there is no other side to choose from then you are a slave
i think that God is the only true omnipotent on the Devil might qualify as well but I don't wanna think a whole bunch right now
Since I think of omnipotence as "all powerful", I think it's acieveable for dieties, but not people. Which is just as well in my case, because I'd probably spend half the time fixing all the things I screwed up the other half of the time. :-)
yes I have attained omnivorousness....or something of the type!!!!
*bows
*bows head as well
what 'tis it you bid of me sire
*just s#$@in' with ya lol
If I understood what it meant I would have posted a most informative and intelligent reply.... alass.... we know that is out side of my grasp ....
*grins*
Omnipotence is an attribute which means unlimited in power - without limitations to action. This attribute is paradoxical and can be shown as impossible through the following argument:
Question: Can an omnipotent entity, X, create a rock that X can not lift?
If yes, then X is not omnipotent; if no, then X is not omnipotent.
Therefore X is not omnipotent.
"Omnipotence" tries to define a concept only by lack of definitions. This is where is goes wrong. A concept is an integration, it takes a number of entities, abstracts away certain measurements, and ends up with a new combined whole. "Omnipotence" tries to take a concept, "ability", and integrate it with contradiction, "unbounded", which violates the axiom of identity. The result is a term which seems to mean something, but is in contradiction with reality and existence and is rationally unusable.

thanks for the run down.. I'm still going to fail on this one
