This is a sort of adjunct thought that shot through me fevered brain after posting in Kraven's "Life" thread. What are your thoughts on destiny? Is there such a thing? Are two people "destined" to be together? Is ANYTHING preordained?

DESITINY is for you to die - sooner or later it will happen

i hate when people go "its my destiny to be this or do this and what not", you cant really just choose your denstiny. it happens over along time. but you can kind of push it in the right direction on where you want to go i guess. i just let things come to me and take me with them and knowing there helping me to my destiny in life....

i believe that yes there is one person out there for you to find it doesn't mean that you will find them

this might be some weird coincidence or might be destiny i dont know but i ran in to my g/f twice before i met her online then later met in person and started dateing. the first time was at wal mart and i was so checking her out and she was checking me out before i could go talk to her she left then later i saw her at the mall and agian i checked her out but again i couldnt talk to her. then one day i was chating online and i started talking to her then we just talked online for months then later met few nutral friends and i relized it was the girl i saw at wal mart and the mall ... WERID coincidence or was it destiny???

destiny is when things work a desired or non desired way

i don't think so, you live day by day. You make your own choices and they'll take you where they take you, not destiny.

I am a strong believer of destiny. The goal is what drives us to the finish line.

i'm not sure on my stand on the destiny thing....I think perhaps your amount of time is predestined...but what you do in that time is not......

Yes there is someone predestined...at least I hope in it...you should too, cos things like these makes ppl happier!

not sure on the destiny thing for its the path you choose which are all way changing,now if the path you choose is the same or equal to another maybe you can call it destiny but if thats true then why do the paths changes as well over time

Destiny can be what you make it.

You could also call that 'shifted responsibility.'

We have the power in our lives to make things work for us, as an advocate of free will I make these choices, not some chain of events leading to an ultimate conclusion.

I tend to doubt that with a god or goddess the willingness of such a being to predetermine events in each persons life and allow free will just to see people squirm ....

I think destiny makes for a very pretty girls name.
seriously, I don't fully believe in destiny. if there is destiny then fine but I don't let such things rule my day to day nor do I dwell on whether destiny will see my through.

There are many ways to look at it. It either works for you or against you. If you don't like the way you are destined for you, yeah it will be bad. Bummer. But if something is cool, same thing.

Truly we have no control of it. We need to teach ourselves to look at the bigger picture of things. "I'm meant to do this!" Sometimes we just can't see things that easily. No one can.

Do I believe that someone MAY be destined to be with you, or made for you. Yes. Every waking moment I believe that. *warm happy fuzzies.

It depends if you believe in determinism (the idea that everything is set) or the idea that some omnipitant being plans it all out for you, either way, I think soemtimes that it can be more self-comforting than accurate, especially in the second case. However, I believe in free will (well, causal determinism...)

I think that destiny exists.The place where you are born and the parents you have to have are destened .No one can choose them.That's for sure.I think that even the things we have to go through are destined, life is what you make it, but certain things that no one can choose are destined to happen.That's what I think.

Destiny is the reason for which our spirit was born into this life, be it by choice or by need. It may be a lesson to be learned, a balance that needs to be restruck... in the end it is the fulfilment of this destiny, be it known or unknown, that gives our life and the events in it meaning.

I believe everything is completely random.
Events that occur, however, effect your future. I believe that there is an alternate world where all the choices you didn't make are played out in this world.
