I had a little trouble making this into a poll, so before I begin I should point out the following:

- This thread in no way is to encourage people to go seek insane cults that think drinking blood from any animal or human is wonderful and ok.

- This thread does not encourage or discourage membership to any serious societies that may exist on the web.

My question is this:
Have you searched the net, or joined a society that is centered around the vampire theme? If yes, what is like?
If you haven’t joined a society and would like to, please share with us what you would be looking for.

Do you think membership into such groups should be earned? Do you think these groups should exist at all?
Would you find it easier to belong to a certain type of vampire clan, instead of being thrown in together all the time?

I belong to many Yahoo groups that are vampire based and don't require membership beyond having a Yahoo profile and joining the group. These groups are for the discussion of "real vampirism" (or what I consider energy deficiency).

I am was also a member of the Vampire Church, which is not religion based - it was designed as a haven for those with vampirism. What did membership require? Having the energy deficiency version of vampirism (considered "real vampirism" by many) and the willingness to learn more about the condition - and furthermore, the willingness to share that knowledge with others.

For the few that exist online, they all offer the same thing - "Resorces" into the myth's, legends and types of vampires.

What about a Culture? (Not a hardcore cult as said in first post) By culture, i mean a group of people that share a set of the same beliefs, celebrate certain things, follow there own bible in one aspect?

Well, its a big quest thou have.

I haven't been dark world for rave, i went in the deepst of the darkth to find answers to my quest of my para-psychic experiences. this led me first to yahoo groups which are leading vampire societies and practices.

Yes i am member of Vampire Nation and Dark Nation on web. my base is undisclosed vampire org which lead the all sectors of vampirism in seperate group or site seperately, and I am member of vampire church too.

but more i can suggest if you really wish to find true vampire society, you can fall to temple unup and sangspace on ning. I been on yuku too there too few very lovely site such as smokes and mirror, CastleDark ad Castle Mistique (Castle Mistique is pertaining to witchcraft)

all are good sites I been guided to.

Rather I am adopted by my Gothfather and GothMother there and I loved this supreme love from the kin of the kind of its own. I have few good relations there. I love them eternally being their gothson and to all including my teachers.

I do belong to online "societies" if you wish to call them that. As well, I have standing on many of them, not that it is important or special mind you.

Society really does need to study the online sites to see if they are what they say they are before joining. Such places as sangspace, are simply there for conveniant communication between certain Houses. While others are there for good reason such as ediquette and the like.

I see no problem with certain ones, but if I were society, I would certainly think before I leap.

Just remember that certain sites take the vampire quite seriously.

Not only do I believe they exist, but I further contend that anyone who has even searched them has already been flagged and had a background check done. Not speaking from paranoia, but if I were to be security for such a society, I could not risk whatever goes on behind our walls to become public knowledge. Simply put, for the survival of the society. The more hoops people jump through, the more easily they are tired.

I query:
A background check done by whom? The online societies or the government?

As a member of Vampire Rave, you're already a member of a vampire society (an online society with a vampire theme). Although the site has changed considerably over the past few years (especially the forum), it is an online society and vampiric in its theme, as mentioned. What would you expect from such a site, and how have you experienced Vampire Rave?

I personally have enjoyed the interaction on the site, especially the forum interaction and it's content, and enjoyed making a few friends from the site.

What have you enjoyed the most from your time as a member of this site?

I do not consider online sites as a feeling of being "at home". More of a business arrangement of sorts. Since much of my online business is conducted on those particular sites such as the following but not limited to: Vampires Nest, VampirRave, Dark Nations, Temple of Lost Souls, US Chapter of the Vampire Nation, Just as examples.

As well, I know many individuals on this site who are connected to many of those sites so basically it seems to be a small circle.

Then it seems that VR is unique...which is a shame =/
I like the thought of variety, by that I mean different sites being dedicated to different types. I know the psy's have there sangu-however its spelt site.
From this I take it there is no online culture that offer's something more than "resources"

I would have thought now, considering how long the internet has been around, there would be more sites then the few that lack... designs. (Excluding VR which is set out wonderfully...to an extent lol)
Ahh, I had hoped to find out more, but I guess overall there isn’t anything to know =/

In a certain truth, the individuals have a couple of those sites up for informational purposes, contrabant for those of whom know how to use it. Even though the sites are well thought out, the creators have a bit of a hard time accessing certain types of information becuase some of the information is not there to begin with.

As in, no one can figure themselves out, not for the sake that they are vampire and it all comes by instinct, but becuase some of them do not know the vampire from...Let us say, Lord Soth from Dungeons and Dragons. They claim to know certian pieces of information becuase they have read this or that, or have been studying the culture for a very long period of their lives.

Which in turn, leads the rest of the populous to wonder about the other side of the information. Just becuase someone says or thinks they know about the unspoken information...Does not mean they actually have it.

The point I am wishing to make here, is that a couple of the sites out there, that seem to be the be all end all of all information dealing with one distinct stereotypical group. Whether it be the all proclaimed "sang" or "psi". Not to be too critical here...Don't have a clue other than what they have studied and therefore cannot provide other information pertaining to these stereotypes.

It took a couple of years to create the "black veil", after several more years, the creators of said "black veil" have revised and revised to to suite their own means. To say the least, those individuals...Not pointing fingers here by any means, just claim to be something that others truly are...Just for the sake of doing so.

A new roleplayers method if you will. Which is why more then half of the rest of the true vampire community has gone underground, since they are tired of dealing with all the negative publicities that are out there from what went on during the nineties. Falling in love with the masquerade is one thing, but to keep most of its guidelines in re-written ways is quite a differant story.

Just saying...

The VR community is the only sort of vampire-based group I've joined other than VampireFreaks. Otherwise, I've looked up actual physical groups online, and most of the resulting hits were "satanic" [[I use this as their term for themselves, not as the word for proper satanists]] cults or groups that were Hollywood-esque and showy, mostly either trying to get attention, scare people, or just be assholes with eachother.
