When I am performing at renaissance festivals I have been told that I am very charismatic. It seems that a strong charisma is a staple of a vampire's arsenal; indeed, a necessity! What is your opinion about charisma as it applies to vampires?
every vampyre has charisma, that is what makes us what we are.
In RPG I think is one of the rules. There has to be charisma to attract the 'victims', and suck them dry*chukles*
Now seriously, I think that there's a similarity between the term charisma and empathy. What do you think?
yeah charisma is a necesity, its the mystery that the opposite sex finds appealing bout us and allows them to be attracted to us.
No, charisma and empathy are entirely different.
Charisma is a personal magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure (as a political leader), or a special magnetic charm or appeal.
Empathy is the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner.
Completely different.
yes, I think it's not just for the opposite sex, it's a way to be. I think that the idea that the vampire is ugly and anti-social comes a lot from the movies. I think charisma comes with being a vampire, i guess.
And as for charisma being a part of a vampire's arsenal ... If one is luring a willing dinner, then yes. I think charisma would be a necessary weapon in the arsenal.
I've always thought of charisma as having strong values that shine with their rightousness and other positive virtues. Personally I dont think its necessary right now. I think pure and simple confidence is a more powerful tool in todays society. People follow confident people even when they're not right.
Morals come and go in human society, but might almost always makes right.
Thank you Requiem. hm..I guess I'm the empathic type. Definetly
Charisma has nothing to do with core values.
It is all about the charm, Airaphis.
Hmm, and I'd thought charisma came from the greek word kharisma which means divine favor. Which has a morality slant to me.
Obviously though, if im quoting a 2000 year old language to define a word in now a days context, my point is most likely moot! lol =P
I think Airaphis may have a point here, concerning human behavior. People do tend to follow those that are more highly concidrered by the majoraty
You have a point, Airaphis. Another definition of charisma is an extraordinary power (as of healing) given a Christian by the Holy Spirit for the good of the church.
But I have no idea what Christianity and vampirism would have to do with in the same usage of the word, so I did not consider that definition.

I feel that a healthy dose of charisma is required in order to be an effective vampire. I liked Gary Oldman’s portrayal of Dracula in the movie. His character had charm and presence, but it was his ability to “win over” his prey that made him so formidable.
I think it is safe to say that many aspiring vampires crave something they lack, ergo Charisma. In VR and at renaissance festivals I exude charisma. However, in the work place it seems to be lacking.
I attribute this to the fact that I am usually putting on a facade when I am in here or at festivals. I wish that I could be more charming every day.
the only thing that i have to say much about charisma is the fact that no matter where it takeing in to consideration and whats its placed for its what defines us as who we are as a charecter and a person no matter what
