You see on certain shows, movies, and other features, vampires reproducing a vampire baby in a human woman. Now from my knowledge, they are the living dead. How can this be done? Can it be done, or is this Hollywood fiction and drama? Can a vampire contract any human disease from a humans blood? Why not if they can reproduce? Please give me your thoughts on if a vampire can reproduce or contract diseases through blood.

*NOTE PLEASE KEEP THIS CLEAN. I DON'T WANT A DOMINAR CLOSING THIS THREAD FOR OVERSEXUAL COMMENTS. I'M ONLY ASKING SIMPLE QUESTIONS.

I suppose the best response I can give is that it depends on the story.

I write the Black Diary series, and in it I explain that the vampires of my series use sex not to reproduce, but to regenerate their bodies after extreme injuries or age. They cannot have intercourse with a normal human without the vampire DNA attacking the living tissue and taking over to reproduce the original vampire in a new body.

I also explain that my vampires are immune to most diseases except those specific to the blood such as the Black Plague, Leukemia, HIV, and Hepatitis. They have learned how to detect those diseases in possible victims and avoid them.

Just my take on things. It's one of the things that makes writing a logical vampire story interesting.

Kindest Regards,

OB

I think the perception is left to the writer of the story or movie. we assume the vampire is living dead, to words to look at. the body yet dead but with the energy it feeds off the perception of life is given. Know with this the heart we would assume pumps the blood to parts of the body for them to be energized and such all parts.

This is more an assumption on the body of the vampire and not fact given in any way except movies when we see the heart start pumping the energy.

Basic logic would deem not possible, yet dead would also assume that no brain activity or motion within any limbs.

Percepotion of the writer and what the character can and cannot do.

On the matter or vampire conception, I do not believe it possible, unless it is possible for someone that will become a vampire once dying, has sex, and passes the disposition to the fetus. On diseases, I do agree with the previous statement that anything that can infect the blood would have an effect on the vampire.

It depends on which version of a vampire you speak of. There is the undead variety, there is the type that is a vampire because of a viral mutation, there is the kind that is actually alien in origin, and the list goes on. Obviously the undead type will most likely not be able to reproduce unless given some kind of divine help like when Darla from Angel gave birth to Connor with Jasmin's help.

The vampires of myth and legend ie. the undead variety can not reproduce, they can turn a human into a vampire, but that is not reproduction in the strictest sense. With fiction ie. books & movies anything is possible. If you look at most stories though where a vampire has a "child" that child almost always was already in the womb of a human mother that was turned into a vampire while pregnant. The theory being that the spark of life is so strong at that point it equals the vampire's undeath and you end up with a half vampire half human having all the strengths of the vampire but none of the weaknesses and almost always a taste for vengeance against all vampires for what was done to their mother. In both of those cases the vampire "father" is not subject to human blood born and sexually pathogens because they are not alive. I guess there would be a possibility they could be a carrier though, but probably only for a limited time since the disease would not have living tissue to feed it. Since human or living vampires have been mentioned they are human and living therefore can reproduce a human and are subject to all blood and sexually transmitted pathogens.

I guess we tend to look at movies with an insight of what they are changing in the myths of vampires. Van Helsing gave us the aspect of Dracula's children or blade or Bloodye Rayne. yet if we look into the past the theory behind all of this could not be prominat in the culture of the vampire lore.

do not see how they can reproduce with a live person since they are dead. I mean if your dead then the little guys (sperm ) are also. you would just have to see what the story line is in the movie etc.. I would think.

risk to get viruses sure why not as to actually defeating the virus before it kills them .. that again would have to be what the story line is in the movie

i do not feel that there are any living dead around these days unless you have a very hung over weekend that has let you feeling as such. LOL

Sorry. but I feel that in movies and myths etc anything can happen or be possible

just an opinion is all.

I don't know about reproduction, I have never seen this in any vampire lore or movie but I suppose anything is possible.
As far as virus's go, it really depends on where you look. I've come across some sites that say it is possible and others that don't.

The writer adds a twist and now all start to think if this could happen. Seen it here all the times.

Vampires vs lycan
Vampire babies
Vampires in the daylight.

Fiction, is all this is first vampires need to be proved before we dwell on assumptions of movies.

Well in the Twilight Series, Breaking Dawn, Bella was still human when Edward impregnated her. Because the baby was growing at a rapid rate and because her human body was being drained by her child, they learned she must drink blood to satisfy the thirst of the child. However, the baby itself did not turn out to be only vampire , but human as well. A half breed.
