Most Societies will tolerate only so much disregard for convention, a common reaction to those who are admonished, yet continue the behavior are often canidates for expulsion, or exile by either authority, or consensus.

The question, what behaviour in a collective warrents expulsion, or exile?

How does one suggest handling "fall out" from effecting other members?

The only premise that keeps coming to mind is that of determining whether the person involved is actually detrimental to the overall state/safety of the community, or merely offensive.

Being offended is a voluntary act. It is not soley in the hands of the offender, though they may increase the odds.

Again if actual danger is involved the only action I can see is in fact exile.
Unless the party involved agreed to alter their own behaviour.

This would also naturally be a voluntary act.

I don't really know to be honest.

If the path leads the individual to betrayal within the group, and a backstabbing hand is veryified without justifiable cause then this would be a good way to be banished, or exiled.

If the rules, or mandates are broken so many times or the individual is beyond the capability to understand said conditions or is incapable of respecting said conditions then that individaul should be banished, or exiled.

If the individual creates a homicidle act, then this could be an immediate advocasy for banishment or exiling.

I would guest it may depend on said rules, or mandates for any type of group as well as their immediate philosophies regarding who and or what they are and or represent.

well, since we're speaking in generalities and not specifics, I offer a general answer:

Q.what behaviour in a collective warrants expulsion?

Typically, those behaviors which are incongruous with the behaviors and mores of the group. Adherence to a collective doctrine is essential to the group's 'Group-ness'. In general, groups set their own rules of acceptance and tolerance of behaviors. All else are considered *finger quote* other.

What about someone getting hold of your house or cell number somehow and/or emailing you threats, including death threats?

Which brings us to personal accusations, verses collectivly observed behaviour, thanks for your post.

While overt behaviour is openly viewable. Personal conflict may require an investigation. Thus the importance of perhaps an investigation, an airing of grievance with both parties invited to a hearing. It is best to have a log of activity as well.

As an exile for far too many years, my take on the question is more of how it affects the exile. I left my native Cuba, many years ago, it seems centuries already. I flew away in the arms of Peter Pan, seeking and elusive Tinker Bell, in the airpor in La Habana people jeered and called us gusanos, worms, as we boarded the plane. Later on in Miami, a gringo kid, bigger than me, aked me why I did not go back to where I came from, I looked at him and did not know whether to laugh or cry, for to go back where I came from was my fondest wish. And yet here I am, still in exile, some 47 years later.

By definition Exile is this...

ex·ile (gzl, ksl)

NOUN:

1.
1. Enforced removal from one's native country.
2. Self-imposed absence from one's country.
2. The condition or a period of living away from one's native country.
3. One who lives away from one's native country, whether because of expulsion or voluntary absence.

TRANSITIVE VERB:
ex·iled , ex·il·ing , ex·iles

To send into exile; banish

Unless things were extreme...I doubt anyone gets exiled in this day and age.Yet in the past it took extreme circumstances to exile someone from their home and or village...or country.I suppose it would depend on what the they did and how bad they did it.

Sociaty exiles people everyday.
From colour of skin to wearing cheeper trainers, we are all judged and either welcomed into the fold or rejected.

The media standing as our judge, celebrity the prosicution. Sociaty as the jurry, and only our friends standing as our defence.

And if we are truely honest, we are all exiles from somewhere.
