I don't really get why the number of people we have on your friends lists should count if we level up or not. That is what I always hated about MySpace. People loading up on "friends" just to make themselves feel more important. It shouldn't matter how many people we load up on our list.
Them adding you doesn't help them...but it does make you gain points.
In all likelyhood it will be the same any site you go to. There will be people that will add others to make them feel important. I dont get it either and never will. Why people do that is a mystery to me.
Because one of the main reasons for this site is to meet and connect with people of a like mind. To share your ideas and interests along with whatever knowledge you may have. I don't like it sometimes, but that's life.
I agree,I have over 100 supposed friends here but I only talk to a certain few....But to help you level up is a bunch of bullcrap.
You should level up by working for it instead of just
begging people to add you to their friends list. .
It's not a popularity contest, true, but it does add dimension to the status system. I may not believe that status should be determined by who looks the shiniest but at least there is variety in determining that status. Idk, just adding a semi-different viewpoint.
You can level up even if you have NO friends.
If you have been on here for any length of time and have very few "friends" it basically shows that you do not mesh well with the vast majority of folks here, therefore there is a small penalty to your status levell.
If you are very popular and fit in well with many folks here there is a small bonus.
In any case, the majority of your status is Time spent and pages viewed.
If you don't want friends, discourage people form adding you, if you don't want others to gain a bonus from being your friend, don't add them. It's all up to you.
There is no discussion here. This would be better suited as a journal entry.
