In the title of this thread, the genders can be reversed, i.e. Favorite Daughter or Prodigal Son.

Vlad Dracul was his dad's favorite, trained in the military arts and all that, although I may be confusing what we know of his history with the myth of Dracula. Lestat was very close to his mother. Louis was close to his dad, but I think his younger brother may have been the favorite.

To the extent the author details the vampires family, are they the favorite child, or the outcast? Please be specific and cite the vampire and the book.

I was definitly not the favorite... i got caught everytime i done something wrong lol... i was disciplined more and im thankful because its made me more disciplined in life

Carmilla in Sheridan le Fanu's short story was definitely her mother's favorite. Claudia in Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire was Louis' favorite.

Will have to think about this more, but it does seem like the more kick ass vampires were cherished children. Not the Lost Boys fosho, but Blade was well-loved.

What about Underworld? Can't remember her name, but isn't she daddy's favorite?
