Last couple days reports of the myth Chupacabra have surfaced with video, Yet is this in your opinion fact or mutation of our current animal species like racoon. was wondering thoughts from The VR society.
Crytozoologists point to the mutation theory, at least those whose articles I've read. That would be my opinion as well, on the whole chupacabra, bigfoot, loch ness mystery scenario. But then again, I've never seen any of them, so this is just an opinion. I have seen an unsually large vampire bat, though; to someone else, it might have been Dracula, as big as it was. Which is my point; it was a rouge mutant. The critter in this video looks like some mangy animal, hybrid or inbred, perhaps.
Different...but is it supernatural? Or just extraordinary..?
That is a BAD case of the mange nothing supernatural about it.
I agree with above statement, pretty much. Just an unfortunate rouge mutant with a case of mange.
i thought that the beast was supposed to look a bit more....impressive.
perhaps less mange ridden.
~W~
The woman from the interview states that it is a raccoon. Not sure if she is of a "professional" status to make such observations, or opinions... But the title of the video is an obvious sensationalistic manipulation. The title is just there for views people, nothing more.
This is no chupacabra. I see nothing to specify any type of "goat feeding" of anykind. It is just a scared little unhealthy animal that needs to regain its composer. Nothing more.
I do not see why this thread remains open.
A freakshow attraction. What ever happened to simply being amused by such anomilies, now a days so called Experts, are out to convince the masses.. it all seems so backwards.
Every generation has individuals that are bent on duping others into astonishment. Using outright Tall tales, Freakish mutations, or Hoax Fabrications.
And.. people still eat it up.
For every plastic, rubber cyclops in a jar exposed, there us someone that says.. such a thing could exist..
It just looks like a bald raccoon to me. We all know, or at least we should know, that mutations are possible in every species you come across. The baldness-cause it really does look bald-could be a genetic mutation. Either that, or it really is just a raccoon, with a bad case of mange, as was stated before.
I really don't see why people feed into this sorta crap. People assume that just because the title says, "Chupacabra," that "OMG! IT'S REALLY ALIVE!"
Whether or not the lady in the video is a zoologist doesn't matter, if you look at the face shape, and the hands on the poor little guy, you can clearly see that he's not goat killing monster. He's terrified.
I'm flabbergasted as to why this thread is still open.
it used to be that people needed something to present, even if it wasn't what
people were led to believe they would be seeing ( Barnum made a fortune off the concept.) now adays' people just simply rattle off tabloidisque " experiences" and people fork over cash..
the hacks are getting lazier, and the people are getting more desperate.
All in the hopes of telling skeptics, and cynics.." I told you so."
Yet they fail to note that any claimant predictably goes for limited, exclusive, presentation.. rather then to reputable media.
I thought it was an intersting video, on the aspect of something and people quest to find the missing link. Perhaps it is what it is just the aspect of now it is not what we expected the chupacabra to be.
K.... It looks like a dog with mange. I can't even see any thing resembles a raccoon. O.o
I think it could possibly be a trick ie someone shaved the thing bare. Or like here in Australia our Tassie Devils have a mutation around their mouth. Over time they have discovered that it is a actual cancer/desease which is effecting the Tassie Devil. Could this be the same thing? who knows time will tell
It looks mre like it got caught in a fire cause the skin tissue looks burned , yet I thought it was cute and sorry at the same time hope it gets better soon...
and she did call it a raccoon maybe he got burned..
It looks like a cross from a hairless cat and raccoon mixed.
Paranormal state on tv had a good heat image of something in the area with wings… mighty odd, the guy who had sounds of it had one good one and one that sounded like an electronic style phone from the 80.s ?? any one see this last night on tv?
Ripleys believe it or not, banked on such ambiguous subjects. If you followed Ripley thru the years you would note that they always present subjects without set conclusions.
Snake oil salesmen used the same technique.
People will pay to be astonished, some where along the way people began to invest to much in such matters.
To me personally anything that is so intersting ( whether or not it is what it is alluded to being) enough to make people pause, supports my conviction that seeing is not always sufficient for extraordinary claims.
Human senses can be fooled, by out right fabricated hoaxes, or by naturally occuring anomolies.
More cases have been revealed as such, then cases that pass scrutiny as " genuine"cryptid.
It's a raccoon with a bad case of the mange.
poor thing.
When I was younger, I had a hamster that had skin cancer. She lost the fur on her belly, and it spread until we had to put her down...
That animal looks almost identical, only obviously larger...
Take it from someone that is attracted to the supernatural, and spent some amount on freak shows in her days:
There are plenty of scams out there. Sometimes, in a rare 1 out of 100, you might come across something that actually is true, but don't hold your breath
Could be a staged video. Anyone can make a video that "looks" real.
Staged or not covered by all media and news stations, so it could be a hoax like the bigfoot scenerio, yet to me it is a burn or mutation of some sort. idealist of myth that hopes to prove the story true.
Question on the Chupracabra approximately 2 years ago included this information.
"I just saw a documentary on the History channel about this animal. It looks like a large dog but has no hair, has bluish gray rough thick skin and large fangs. It is truly ugly and it attacks other animals and sucks the blood out of them leaving the carcass behind.
In Puerto Rico they have been seen walking upright and in Texas on all fours. But in both areas they look similar.
They have dead animals to evaluate and have found they seem to be part coyote and part dog. But these animals eat meat not just puncture and drink the blood."

It is known that wolves interbreed with wild dogs in Germany and they run loose and are more dangerous it is said than the wolves. Why not coyote's mating with something else such as wild dogs to create a hybrid of some sort that superstition has built up around. It is not unusual for such things to happen domestically as well as in the wild. In the 60s, they created a whole new breed of cat, Bengal Leopards, which look similar to gray tabby cats.
There is such a thing as urban legend and most people chalk this creature off to that area of thought.
I'll have to get back to you on this one...I'm still trying to convince people I saw the Jersey Devil when I was 10 yrs old! o.O
Perhaps there is a real "chupacabra" out there. But this is not it.
If it is not the beast in question why do people try to prove it as such, is it for personal fame or just to prove the myth real.
I have stated all along that creatures still exist unknown to us and have yet to be proven, this world is so fast and look at the new species that are discovered every year.
Cadre,
One need only to look to the origins of the myth.
People assume that myths are all based on sightings.
Not the case for Chubaccabra.
Dabbler,
Do not get me wrong, i am always looking to solve a myth and find truth that is buried within it, yet assumtion of a myth seems to take the focus from the truth and taint it. This case in general, For one week here they claimed that they found the chupacabra so i tuned in to see the story, yet than as you see she down played it as a racoon or creature, so why the hype to bring in another form and call it this. as a joke or a hoax. Humanity in this case has puzzled me. my skeptisim of myth and beast i assume yes it may exist but give the facts and truth and I shall make my call, we seen this with the big foot hoax.
Ratings. Note the lady is wearing a shirt what does it say on the shirt?
Advertisent. To get face time on TV, motivation?
I must say it looks like a horrid case of the mange. She seems to be the kind who wants their few minutes of fame if ya want my oppinon
My dog had the same problem off & on with her fur, but it was red mange. The poor hairless little critter looks harmless & very well could be a hairless raccoon or any other animal for that matter. Who knows....
I tend to agree with everyone else that claims she downplayed it a lot & i did notice the advertisement on the shirt...If she wanted her 15 minutes of fame she could have done something better than that
I think we should get Myth Busters on this one....
Manage sounds like a plasible idea, yet The actual breed or creature is still in question, No me it does not apppear to have the structure of a racoon, more like a canine. yet it could be crossbreading too.
I don't think she intentionally plugged it as a chubaccabra., not much audeo, but I think the media source hyped the matter.
This is the type of thing tabloids run 100 miles on.
Families have been embarrased by the tabloid media, they may never bill something as .. example.. " We saw something that couldn't be explained in the sky, on vacaction." The tabloid press gets it and.. " Family swears to witnessing Alien Craft!"
We now know that such a condition can intice people to conclude that they saw a cubacabbra, especially if say a coyote got mange, and was seem lurking.
She clearly states rationally that she almost immediatly knew it was a racoon, I am sure town folk had their imaginations run wild..
I would have to agree with dabbler on this one. this looks like some sort of hoax to me. i am not saying that i dont think there is such a animal as well we dont know we dont have soild proof that this thing is either real or that is just a myth. the same as big foot either way these myths are just that myths until we have proof that these things dont exisit then what are we to do other then to look and to wonder what truly is to behold out there in the vast wilderness of this planet. Until then i am not holding my breath.
Hoax or not the outcome of the creature than must be sen, human did it or enviroment. laws must be broken for the hoax.
I understand these are hairy beasts that maul animals and then vanish into the night? never to be trapped or seen again.
They are mainly in Mexico where Tequila and weed are very prevalent.
No earthly creature could avoid modern surveillance but the legend could be an inter dimensional beast that is able to break through temporarily. After all earth has offered rich pickings for a Billion years. Is it not Niaive to think we are the only life forms out there?
According to some articles I've read on the subject, the Jersey Devil, the supposed mythical creature of the New Jersey Pinelands, has haunted New Jersey and the surrounding areas for the past 260 years-the entity has alledgedly been seen by over 2,000 witnesses during this period. Supposedly its terrorized towns and caused factories and schools to close down, yet many people believe that the Jersey Devil is a legend, a mythical beast, that originated from the folklore of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Like the big foot, or the chupacabra, it starts with a few random sightings of a "strange" creature the observer cannot explain-some mutant, or something mangy and deformed like the above video; soon the media and the ever present gossip-monger sensationalize what was probably nothing more than a bear or wild dog sighting, and everybodys seeing ghosts. I myself have never seen anything described here, but I'm not saying "something" doesn't exist. While many new species of plant-life, insects and reptiles are discovered every day, something as large and predatory as a big foot, Jersy Devil, or chupacabra, would not realistically be capable of evading man for so long a period of time-especially in this technologically advanced day and age. If men are capable of tracking down clever human fugitives even in the most remote of regions, does it make sense that a big foot or a chupacabra could be so consistantly successful in eluding capture for so many years? Even if there were a "chupacabra", capturing it would achieve...what? New life forms are discovered every day, but no one makes a ruckus about them. I saw the corpse of a two-headed calf on display at a science center once when I was a kid; I imagine if I'd run into that thing one dark and stormy night while it was living...imagine what stories could have evolved from that.
I agree it is not possible to evade modern detection in this mundane realm.
However, if it is an entity crossing over to feed upon emotions such as "fear" it seems to be doing rather well.
It probably began this practice on monkeys millions of years ago but would have to feed less frequently on the more powerful human mind.
I wonder if a study has been made of Electro magnetic conditions and sighting patterns?
This animal reminds me of the Methyl Mercury cases of the 70's. It's not what they think it is.
i remember reading about that... good point!
There are definitely other species out there. And I hate to break it to you, but every one of us is a mutant of some kind.
part of the reason myths, and legends are perpetuated has to do with the " scare ya' factor" people want to see how much fear they can invoke in others, people that already have an irrational fear.. Or fasination, what to see how others receive the myth, or legend.
Camp fire stories, that people cannot keep around the campfire.
Even in Mexico chubbacabra is a running joke.
Exactly dabbler. bu the fact remains that until we either confirm or disprove said animal we can not say one way or there other.
To me, any myth is a "Possible until proven otherwise"
Exactly my point. until it is proven that such things dont exisit we must remain open in ways that these things may or may not exisit.
Open to views is always good, yet false media showing shuns the myth and the reality becomes flawed and even sometimes forgotton. Because the allure is lost and people just stop looking for the truth behind the myth.
very well put Cadrewolf. and because of these hoax's and these stunt people lose there zeal to know more about them.
This is my very point, science looks for such things using conventional means which is a waste of time and effort.
Science needs a new approach to detect things from different planes of existence.
All sources do not divulge truth; truth is revealed only by those who take the time to peel back the layers of deceit.
LMAO
it amuses me how people try SO HARD to prove something is real when there's absolutely no proof... but that's with just about everything...
to believe in something... is a strong emotion...
The Statement, " It can't be proven to not exist." is a double negative.
It is a backward approach, here we have an example of an anomily, we can easily conclude that such a condition as mange, can be factored into X numbers of sightings of the Crypid Chubscabbra, an Mythical creature of Central American Urban Legend.
As it stands, no substantial evidence exist to support the existence of Chuba', aside from Anacdotal Testimony, all unfiled by credibility.
Any number of the more convinced sightings can now be reviewed in light of breaking factors.
Cadrewolf, in my experience misdirection and false evidence proves the negative...
Thus the masses are mis-led.
Psychologists from as far back as Rome employed these principles to..."Divide and rule!"
One often hears the clamour, so where is the evidence ?Evidence is often tainted by the loony fringe, the Church or government but nevertheless it remains unexplained evidence.
If entities were proven to exist then the established doctrines would come under immense pressure, possibly destabilising society.
So perhaps it is every-ones interest that "Entities" remain fiction.
people want to perpetually spectulate on " the unknown" they don't want to
bother with probability, they only want to be astonished by far fetched possibilities.
Fallingstar, you are quiet right in news or material seems to mis lead the society, Which is alot of the statements in which the Goverment deems to protect society by the no tell law, for if they do not know than the mass will not panic.
Mutation of manage or propaganda of sort to elude the existance of a myth, yet in my perception every myth there lies some truth within it, yet to discover with open eyes is sometimes flawed by the hoax of a new situation that may arise.
