I found this verse in the bible..sounds like a description of vampires to me...

Proverbs 30;14

There is a generation whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men

What is the question to base this discussion off of?

How many people think that the verse may be referring to vampires?

That verse seems pretty interesting if you think of it referring to vampires... It seems it could mean that, or it could also be referring to power hungry people that feed off of the poor people. I don't think that the verse should be taken too literally, but you never know.

Some people may be interested in looking that verse up to read what comes before and after it. What version of the bible did you find it in?

This is a great example of taking a single verse, removing it from it's context and applying an interpretation based on wanting it to say something it isn't. You're also taking it far too literally. Very few scholars (or everyday believers) take the whole Bible as 100% literal.

Using single verses to support some idea is a very dangerous thing and actual goes against the Bible itself.

It has nothing to do with vampires or any sort of creature. If you actually read the whole chapter you'll find it's talking about sinful and corrupt people and those that would defile the name of a good man. That particular verse is talking about those who use their mouths (words) to take from the weak, the poor, the needy.

Interestingly verse 5-6 says: "5. Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar."

I think this is an open and shut case :)

I am curious as to how this verse was singled out.

Xzavier's post should be the end of this thread; metaphors and picturesque speech are all to often taken out of context to suit the readers opinions.

I suspect this to be an April Fools Gag.
