I have read all the definitions of vampire, vampirism and all the fiction and alleged fact on this site and over many other sources.

I have heard the cries of solitude, of domination, of carnal desire, of pointless pessimism and equally that of pointless optimism, escaping from the mouths of the Darkened and foolishly, from those only in the shade.

Just as I live my own blood, my own company and my own experiences I, like many an other, am tiring of being incarcerated not only by society, but by my own hands.

My point, as I am sure you are all searching for, is one of desperation.

I understand myself, like many an other on this site and on this world, yearn for the days of old, the days of redemption, ultmiately the days of power formally associated with fore mentioned definitions. My question to you is, what are you going to do about it?

You are, beyond your own recognition a slave to an identity. No matter who you are or who you are recognised to be, is there no other? A Vampire?

This is a rather interesting post.
However I wouldn't say I'm seraching for an 'escape route' as it were, but I have found the path I feel I need to take.

Am not a vampire however I feel different from the norm.

I searched forl ong to find who I am and all know is that I am me nothing more.

But I would feel better if I was osmething more.

Your identity does not bind you, it sets you free, allows you to be yourself. It only commands you when you let it. Identity should not be who everyone else sees you as, but who you see yourself as. My escape is that by knowing that I am different, I am myself, and no one else can steal that from me.

I do not consider myself a vamp and i dont feel special in any ways, i am just a regular person in this everyday madness. And i do look an escape route, but from this everyday routine.

I walk my own path, I seek power and knowledge. It isn't an escape from this insane cruel world but an embrassing of it to reach a understanding and true determined strength.

Your identity can change and as one said it sets you free. Your identity is what is SUPPOSED to set you aside from society, no one is supposed to be the same and it is supposed to be something that you can mold yourself. Some even keep their own identity personal to themselves as to keep from anyone knowing who they are. As to an escape? I would never want an escape from the life I live now.

I wrote something very similar to that once when I was high out of my mind on peyote.

Well this is just me and i mean to put no one down so dont take me the wrong way but i really could give a rats ass what anyone thinks of me and i refuse to hid from anyone. I live my life the way i choose so exactly how does that make me a slave?

A true escape from reality is watching reality TV. There is nothing faurther from the truth of reality than watching the mindless drivle they portray as reality. Escape route=no such thing, there is no true escape. Vampire, I am no where close to a Vampire, the only thirst I have lies not in blood, but in knowledge. Knowledge is truth, truth is understanding, understanding is knowledge, it is but a circle.

but what is to become of the one who thirsts for knowledge when they tire in brilliance? would the one look for an appropriate release or relief?

I have always known who I am, and I can clearly see the paths that I have chosen to take. Do I feel trapped? Maybe a little sometimes, but I merely need to remind myself of my escape routes. All that's left for me to wonder is what I am, and that's a different journey entirely.

How can or rather why would you change the shape of a rose, or the color of the moon..they are what they are..I for one enjoy being who/what I am w/o question..those that want the escape have been lead to believe A, they are nut jobs, B. Vampires don't exist..or C..they have no faith or belief in themselves.

Ultimate liberation lies in death's hand, but I'm not quite ready to take such drastic measures.

i am not quite convinced in that statement of ultimate release.. i feel if one can not find release in life, there is little chance you will find it in death.

You have to be who and what you are. You can't give in to what others think you should be. What they think doesn't matter. Everyone has their own opinion.

Identity is what we make it. We are in control of our own destiny, our own identity, our own "everything" so to speak. What really irritates me, is the person who cries and moans about how horrible his/her life is, and does nothing about it. I feel no sympathy for these individuals. We choose to be who we are, no one else does. Therefore, we only have ourselves to blame or praise...

There is an old tale I love, "A man climbs a mountain said to, at its peak, allow you to talk directly to God. After many a hardship, he reaches the top and screams. "Fill me with your light oh Lord, Enlighten me. Free from this pitiful suffering existance. The Lord replies, "I've been tring, you keep leaking."

Your personality, your supposed identity, are all holes in the vessel that is your life energy. 99% of the experiences and situations that make up you mermories and history, were outside of your choice and control. But yet, you let them control you, enslave you, and call them your personality, your identity. Shed your preprogrammed Likes and Dislikes, and step into the present moment. Make free choices, use your past as it is meant to be used, as a peice of information to be considered. Nothing more, not doctrine, not set in stone. Only you can free yourself from yourself.

A good point was raised in the original post, and I kinda agree with MasterThoth.

Identity is a slippery and deceitful creature. If I ask people to describe who they are 9 out of 10 will probably begin to list very superficial things. Just have a good look at the descriptions in peoples’ profiles around here. You are more than a collection of experiences. You are more than your taste in music or films (although these things may give mere clues as to who you are). You are not your fuckin khakis.

The way you act and perceive the world determines the “real you” more than anything. And who knows, perhaps even your perceptions are skewed by falsehood. So who are you? Really?

There is nothing to escape. This world past or present is what it is and what we make of it.
What would running away do anyway? Where would you go? There is no point.
