For the longest time I have been looking on the internet in search of what my gift is called. before people start to wonder letter me explain it the best I can.

If I look in to ones eyes I somehow seem to see or read parts of there soul (no I'm not a mind reader) I can see there sorrows there fears there happiness and so on and so forth.

It can be of a picture or in the flesh this troubles me due to the fact that for a time I feel there past pains as if they are my own. So my question is what are your thoughts as to what this could be or what it is called?

Could be a form of empathy... or you could just be someone who can read people... its something you would have in common with lots of people. Soul reading is something that oddly enough is not that uncommon.

I didn't think it was uncommon just that I don't know much about it parts of it at times do scare me due to the fact of how real the feelings I get from that person but its also the fact how can I know things about that person that they never told anyone

So far I would say that what you are experiencing is a form of empathy. granted its not uncommon but to some it takes them by surprise specially in your case of feeling it for sometime afterwards. I have heard of others that have talked about this but cannot remember where it was at so I can't say for sure.

The mind has many doors, and certain people are able to access parts of it , where others may never will. There are people all over the world with many unique gifts and talents and abilities to do things that they may not have a name for just yet. Enjoy what you have for it will most likely bring you closer to those around you.

I would have to agree with everyone so far in that it is empathy.And it is something we all share to one degree or another,so I do hope you loose your fear of it someday.

Maybe you need to talk to someone who has the same gift to help put you more at ease.

Well, it does very much sound like empathy. But there are also different levels of empathy. Most common being the intuitive empathy, which is the ability to feel others emotions. Precognition is when you can feel the future eventsor emotions. For example twins, when something is going to happenn to the other one, the one twin would feel that emotion, just as with the bond between a mother and child.

As stated above if you wish to turn this gift off, I would suggest learning how to ground your self.

I think you are a very perceptive individual. This is a life skill. Everyone has it is some degree. Develop your ability to read people. There are many books on body language etc. Review them.

I also would have to say your Empath, you feel the past pain as well as other feelings or thoughts of the person. My Niece has it as well and it is to me the most Empathy powers that one can possess ( all of the person down to their very Soul )
Can be gift or even a curse at times. just have to learn how to channel it and control it. Wish you the best with it. I am Empath as well yet not quite as intense as you describe.

at times it can over whelm my senses I'm not sure if this is normal or not but it just when I look in to that persons eyes I see so much of there life that I seem to get lost in there feelings for a sort time, that it makes me wonder if I will ever come back to my own sense of the present so to say. this still leaves me to wonder is it an invasion of ones privacy to do such things. that will still be my greatest concern.

well I say that our brain is our soul and the eyes looks into the soul, or they are windows into the soul. it should not surprise you that the eyes hold so much value.

Grant it many may not agree with the brain being the soul, yet food for thought without one we are a vegetable and empty shell.

I have a family member who will not look anyone into their eyes, seriously, LOL yet, it is cause she said it just hurts too much.. so I do believe you when you say get like absorbed within them and their feelings etc.

i agree... that's empathy... but can be a very useful gift.

I would say "scrying" within to touch the void and see beyond this realm. Similar to trying to step forward in time and see that which is about to be but much more intense and far greater concentration is required. Controlled mood and emotion help reach this state of being; Seeing colour or shapes on a psychic test is relatively easy.
