Just a quick question for everyone:
There are several candidates for different elections. Under each candidates name is what they do or have done, (basically what other elections they were nominated in, their current job, or previous jobs etc).
The majority of people vote republican or democrat.
They don't even pay attention to the others. They just see the R and D. But what about those that are running that might be racist or Wiccan or satanist or buddhist or gay, and their ideas they are presenting are totally great? Why is it that people will not vote (even if their ideas are the best out of all the candidates) just because they are a neo-nazi, or a satanist, etc.?
It is discrimination, no?
I would much rather vote for a candidate that was a new nazi or a satanist or a wiccan that had good values and ideas to bring to the table, than the same old same old of the R's and D's.
Any thoughts?
This is not meant to be a political post at all. I am just wanting to know how people can make their votes by the labels placed on people without reading what they stand for.
Majority of the American public want a role model that comes off having their heads on straight (or at least their idea of what that is). Someone that they believe in to put the people's needs and some order, some good values in place, to keep our freedoms in tact and they are going to vote for the best person that doesn't have a "flawed" reputation. Most people DO vote R & D but not all Americans do. There are those of us that wish the parties themselves would stop and every man fend for themselves. Sometimes because our choices are not that great, it deters others from wanting to vote at all.
To me it doesn't really matter WHAT they are, race, gender, their spiritualism is, etc.....It's whether or not they are capable of doing their jobs and wanting to actually see the wellness of the people that live here because that should always come first.
There are many, many voting in the southwest that barely understand what the parties stand for. I have always felt it should be on the standards of the individual running but hasn't seemed to work well. In the past you couldn't vote outside of the party you were registered under. That did change but I think people mostly think of the two main because they really don't even let the others debate with them. One lady got arrested from the Green Party that tried to go into that debate. Shrugs, so I think it is just from traditional practices and views of the parents/family and or friends.
One more day and the Drama will be over, until 2012. From phone calls at any hours to junk mail, they don't know when to stop. Always the same line, without any results. Did anyone watch 60 minutes yesterday? was amazing as how our economy is doing. If we elect someone, like you said, a Wiccan or a Satanic, the outcome will be different. We need people who are not to far left or to far right. I vote for the Satanist. LOL
i dont care if the person is a baptist, morman, hindu or satanist...
i just want someone that understands how business works, how economics actually works, how jobs are actually created, and how the world actually works.
im tired of hearing how some politician "feels" about a topic,
id prefer to know how they "think" about the topic.
people tend to vote with parties because they are used to it.
i do notice tho that mostly one party seems to think that government is the solution to all problems.
the other party believes that government causes most of the problems.
if you look at the individual candidates ive noticed that most of them line up along those lines pretty well.

I don't vote at all. Never have never will. Pretty much solves the problem for me.
Everyone says "your vote counts." No it doesn't. When an elected official wins by thousands or even by 5 votes, my vote isn't going to change a thing.
