Adults are obsolete children - Dr. Seusse

In the course of our lives, as we become adults we often have an experience that alters us from our childhood in a way that we wish was not altered. We loose a part of our childlike personality which we desperately wish to reaquire as adults.

I recently had an urban-spirit-quest experience that has gone a long way to reaquiring some childlike characteristiccs that I have been hoping to reaquire, and yet I feel there is so much more to reaquire.

My question is:

Would analyzing how we differed as children, and reaquiring the "courage" to be childlike (or other common childlike characteristic) be a nessesary global step to awakening?

Possibly, but there's room for acting more adult like as well.

Yes, Maturity (moving away from selfcenteredness) while retaining childlike qualities (which is why I do not say childeshness, which does imply immaturity, and ignorance, and an inability to comprehend)

Personally there is a Childlike quality that everyone should explore, within themselves.

That doesn't necessarily mean to re-enact your childhood. It means explore the inner child that we all have.

That inner child also has needs as well as the adult you are. If the inner starves for lack of what its needs are. I thnk we find ours unhappy and moody.

Our inner children will have their say.

With that being said, I think you should explore this childlike side of you. It will help you in the end.

I believe it is necessary to examine all stages of your life to be fully awakened to the truth of your existance.

I like to think that I combine a child's capacity for belief with an adult's capacity for analysis - tempered with a healthy dose of cynicism and a touch of suspicion.

I've always said that the question isn't whether you believe in the boogeyman - it's whether the boogeyman believes in YOU...

Would you say then that you jump into the cold lake with both feet and then find that you are cynical that the water is so cold?

LOL

or is it more that you believe what you are told, and then restrain yourself from the pure joy of the act due to adult rationalization?

I feel we all have that child in us regardless of age and at times do not want to use that adult intuitive on making decisions.

I beleive that we should keep the child awake in ourselves. children are spontaneous and free from everything and thats how we should be inside. its like a child opening a much awaited gift and examining it from corner to corner. we should be glad for what we have and not just take everything for granted.

these are simple things that diffe us from children, and i beleive that we whould all have these characteristics inside us.
