I've been on here off and on the last four years now. I have seen many come and go. There is one thing I do see, Those who join and then quit. I've seen a bunch of newcomers, yes the post the pictures, and they talk the talk. Do they even know what vampire rave is all about? It is more than freaks, vampires, and those who don't get along in normal society. It is a community. It is for those who understand how it is to be made fun of and used by the media, bullies, and people you think are friends. Since this new twilight stuff has come out I have seen nobody cares about finding the truth especially the newcomers. They do not understand why we do it. They come on here like "hey a new Myspace or Facebook. Yet they do not understand we search for truth about vampires and oddities of the vampire nature. We are here to heal some of us or to find something with in us that makes us stronger so we can conquer those people that deny our existence and make fun of it. I only say to the newcomers, expand our tradition, make it so people like us do need to hind behind computers to talk to each other. Do it at home, school, or the mall talk to the Goths, the freaks, the artists, bohemians, and emos, they probably arn't starting to feel it on here as I am. They are starting to feel as separated from the world as they do in public. i read it on here every chance i can get on here. the true vampire rave citizens, are starting to fall back.
No offense meant but, you've been on here 4 years and are only a level 25. Perhaps not as dedicated as your thread intends to be.
"Great Sire" MasterBatore,
I, too, noticed the unusually low rating for TheGodLestat, who after 4 years here only has 10 posts in the forums. ... Then I noticed that you only have 55 forum posts, yourself; not that many more than he.
And yet you, after only 1 year here with so little forum posts and with only 119 ratings of your profile by others, you have somehow managed to increase an entire level every 3 or 4 days or so to already achieve the increidbly high rating of "Great Sire" (111).
How is that even possible?
Using myself as an example, I've been here over 4 years, have well over a thousand forum posts, been rated almost 4000 times and am online here for usually hours at a time most every day. Yet I am still not even at a level sufficient to start a mentorship.
Of course, the question is rhetorical. It is simply a question I find myself asking more and more as I see those like you with relatively little time on VR and with even less apparent participation here somehow leapfrogging past others who have been here for years and who are constantly online here posting and participating as I am, for example.

Just to be clear, my previous forum post was not a criticism of MasterBatore, of course, but instead an expression of confusion regarding how levels work here at VR such that someone can apparently increase a level at the phenomenal rate of about once every 4 days or so to reach Sire level in only about a year (1 level every 4 days for 400 days = Level 100).
Or can someone buy their way to higher levels, here?
You know I AGREE with the above, I have seen people come and in a few months reach sire...I do not understand how that is but what can be done?
This profile was sire when I got it. My original profile, is still on VR yet I gave it away. I have been on VR about 3 years altogether.
I have had three sire profiles (including this one) and have opened 3 covens (all of which are still open).
Point is, it may not seem like I participate much but, let me assure you, I have paid my dues.
About leveling quickly, you have to bust your ass. I never use a page refresher so it takes quite a bit of effort. If you don't rate the hell out of the site, you won't level very quickly.
Look in the Status System in the main menu, that's what I go by (pages viewed and time spent).
I don't think anyone has forgotten what VR is about but as with all things growth means changes. There are a lot of people still here that were here in the earliest days. Everyones lives change and so we have lost some great folks but we've also gained new ideals and insights.
As to the status levels, some view it as a challenge or a game and play it hard while others choose to expend their time and energy making contacts and talking to friends here.
Everyone's lives change and so their free time to enjoy VR comes and goes but that doesn't mean their input is any less important than one who is here day after day.
It is my belief there is room here for all people who find Vampires and vampirism fasicinating for whatever reason, be it real life, literature, movie or role play. It strikes me as snobbish to say my take on vampires is better than yours, no matter the excuse.
As this thread was started with concerns for acceptance, I'll end it with the same, accept the ideals of all those who find their way here.
