If you weren't here.. if you no longer existed, like James Stewart, in 'wonderful life'.. do you think anyone would notice?
do you have a place here? do you make a difference?
does the Cosmos recognize your existence?
have you touched people, or events?
would you be missed, if you weren't here?
I would hope that I would be missed, but I dont wanna be presumptious and say I would be.
Would I be missed?
My potential would be unmet if I was to die an untimely death.
I like to think I would be missed. I know that without me, Mum wouldn't get her money from the post office. Swado would still be living with his parents. My Dad would be swanning around in N.Ireland somewhere. My friend would not have met her boyfriend if I hadn't been there to introduce them. It's just little things like that but I like to think that I have a place, whether I know where that is or not.
My mother would probably miss me.
I don't give a shit about the rest.
I'm not sure i get it.
you mean IF.. i never exsisted..OR if i just vanished in a weird 'poof' death???
i believe i have made a difference in some peoples lives with the help i have given and i also believe i would be missd by the people around me now
Well I am none in this Gigantic Universe,
but I am unbreakable part of this Universe...
I am part of the space that is unnoticed and
I am the part of the space that through you.
Your consciousness is very heavy mass,
I am through the cluster of your mass,
and this Gigantic Creation loaded on me,
Just seek inside yourself and just find me. ;)
I am the prana the soul which remain beyond,
Consciousness is my vehicle only way to find.
I do believe in co-existance and dont know whether I am helpful or not. Coz one by mind infant person (around 30 yo), I thought his conscious level is very high and his mind is much fresh in this world than common peepal though limbs grown awkward. I wished to teach him divine pranayam which is meditation based exercise, so that it become more mature to common peepal. But i could not do this coz 1st i do not have time except sundays and second I have not too close to that person and just met him only second time and both tiem to just say high.
could be said, it's not the time one spends, but rather, the quality of that time.
do you have a place here? do you make a difference?
Everybody has a place here otherwise they would not be here.
does the Cosmos recognise your existence?
In Ancient Egyptian times, it was important that one's name was written to 'cheat the system' so-to-speak or to ensure they would be granted an eternal life. Since our names are all over everything, I think our chances are good to be recognized but who in the cosmos am i trying to impress? lol i don't think that the cosmos wouldn't recognize me since i'm part of the cosmos energies.
have you touched people, or events?
I touch people's lives that are important in mine.
would you be missed, if you weren't here?
I'm not egotistical enough to care. It doesn't matter to me if i'm missed or not. What matters is what i've learned along the way and loved deeply while I was here. I will miss others sure. I'm sure some will miss me too.
I answered my own musing tonight. It was cold and cillt and someone had come for a hot meal, telling his that though he had a rood over his head, he couldn'tn't afford electricity. He ate a hot meal. And, I felt needed.
Aye... I affect someting, at least...
My grand mother who was very importaint to me only had 5 people at her funeral other than family. for a while I thought that no one cared about her and that on the whole she was deemed unimportaint to the world. i doubt that her presance will be missed on a universal scale, however their are at least 5 people out there (other than family)that miss her greatly.
Its one of the few thoughts that keeps me going daily. that I matter to a few people and no matter how small that number is, Im still loved.
At the beginning we all are missed after the final departure, but, as time go by, we vanished from others minds, is the way it is.
yes that's true, but as for me im here to learn, explore and as for the cosmos, I believe everyone is recognized and has a purpose and a place. However, being given free will it is up to you to realize your destiny.
As time goes on people will forget thier past loves and eventualy all memory fades of their existance. I agree with that statement.
As for me I have stopped some very bad things from happening to people. If I never existed then I would never have been there to stop them. As for a place, right now I feel like I have lost my place in the world and am searching to find it again.
I can empathise with the last remark.. as I think at this time, many feel the same.. and, I guess the questions behind this are there for there for a similar reason...
so an individual have an affect on the greater whole?
it strikes me, from the resondants thus far, that many realise that they do...
Well we should all believe we are here for something. Whether or not we choose to figure it out and make some sort of journey to get there, is our choice.
I don't really think anyone would miss me. I haven't perhaps left my mark yet.
However, as far as people we've touched, I don't think we would have any idea as to that. There are people that have made a tremendous difference and help in my life, and I guarantee you that they don't know it, if they even think of me anymore.
I think we all have a place in this life...and every life...often, we don't know the direction our growth as spiritual individuals will take us. Some grow and affect others in such a way that there are those of us who significantly make a difference in the lives of others.
While there are two sides to this discussion to explore...the small things affecting the whole vs the small things not affecting much at all...I lean towards the facts.
When individual raindrops fall from the sky into a pool of water, as small and insignificant as the drops may be, do they create ripples in the surface of the pool?
As rain falls into the pool, so do we fall into the cosmos and become a part of the whole, one touching the life of another in a rippling effect, disrupting the quiet calm of the collective....and keeps it moving.
I don't believe individuals are truly missed in the vast cosmos. Our actions have a much larger part to play, however small they may appear. For instance an individual may unwillingly save the life of a dangerous killer. On a smaller scale another person may be miss a flight, yet in the time spent waiting for the next plane could start a conversation with somebody that could have the potential to change their lives for good.
Things happen for a reason. Sometimes for the good and other incidents make things appear very wrong, even fatal. Which ever way you view this, it certainly makes our lives unpredictable and more interesting. Surely nobody would like each and every day to be the same. I could be very wrong here, I think I have met a great deal of people opposed to change.
I know that I have touched people in my life and some have touched mine
People will miss me alot I believe but then again we can never know what will truly happen once we are gone....
As always Angelus......THOUGHTFUL POST!
everythin i touch leaves a big black stain on peoples lives (doesnt matter if i want to or not it all turns to shit) the world would be a brighter happier place if i were never born i promise u
an while you see Life in the black, you don't see the grey or the pink.. I know.
believe me, for every 'dark stai' you leave, I feel that there is so much more than you miss.
heck.. what is it, "Every action has a reaction..."
If you weren't here.. if you no longer existed, like James Stewart, in 'wonderful life'.. do you think anyone would notice?
If I were to disappear , then yes I would be missed , I have absolute confidence in that.
However, if I were to never exist of course... no I would not.
FYI ....I never had seen*Wonderful Life*.
*****************************************
Do you have a place here?
My place here seems to be for the benefit of others , quite by accident I assure you.
*****************************************
Do you make a difference?
I would like to think so......at least in this little boxed world.
*****************************************
Does the Cosmos recognise your existence?
I am but a mote of dust , insignificant in the vastness of the universe.
*****************************************
Have you touched people, or events?
This I know to be true.
On the positive side: I have inspired , built confidence,
given advice, realized dreams, trust , given love to name a few.
On the negative side: I have seeded guilt, pain and some mystery and misery.
******************************************
Would you be missed, if you weren't here?
Absolutely!
Angelus: Very true every action has a reaction. I believe people place to much meaning on actions though, not everything is done for a purpose. Some events are just a result of random chaos.
Overall it seems as though everyone believes in some small way they will be missed. This is a good thing it shows that a majority of people here have a positive self image.
wasn't aiming for people to have a positive image..
was hoping they'd see that in the grand scheme... we all have a place... we all leave a mark..
out of interest, to the person who'd said they'd not seen 'It's a Wondetrful Life' .. do so.
You might find it illuminating.
Well here is the rub...the reality gap that fuels unrest.
Last night I saw a documentary on BBC iplayer 1% of the rich continue to pass on all the good jobs to the elite.
A study shows your degree and qualifications are irrelevent. It is whether you went to Oxford/cambridge or the Ivy League that determins your job.
Of course we all have a place in this world but many of the good ones are already occupied.
There is no system in place to stop nepotism, and the distribution of wealth is getting worse.Average Bank bonus was 341,000...yep a bad year!
This will lead to war and revolution just at did in Versailles, France. as the people starved they rose up and beheaded the nobles. 1 in 5 in Egypt lives in poverty. 1 in 8 americans is in poverty...go figure.
a fair comment, particualry when a footballer can command 50 million... BUT... then there's the like of a careworker, or a doctor, who affect thousands.. and without whom society would be lost...
Hmmmm, lets see,
*If you weren't here.. if you no longer existed, like James Stewart, in 'wonderful life'.. do you think anyone would notice?*
I haven't seen the movie either (yes yes I hang my head in shame lol). If I had never existed, nope, no one would notice. If I no longer existed, I'd say those who think of me fondly would be aware.
*do you have a place here? do you make a difference?*
I make a difference, but not sure if that's a good or bad thing for me or others. I like to think it's good ;)
*does the Cosmos recognise your existence?*
Nah, I'm not even a speck of dust for the Cosmos, not that important.
*have you touched people, or events?*
Yep, but I've done my jail time for it (j/k)
Hpnestly yes, but that may not have always been a good thing in hindsight.
would you be missed, if you weren't here?
By those near and dear, but other than that, no. The world, Universe, Cosmos would continue on as it always has - until the Lizard Overlords take full control and unite all beings under their tyranical regime. O.o
Those who loved me will remember me...the rest dont matter.
Sadly human life is grossly over rated. It seems likely we will soon be extinct or vastly reduced, an assessment by leading scientists...of course if yellowstone keeps rising this maybe alot quicker than envisaged. Will important movers and shakers be remembered...in a word...No.
i think i have a place here even if i
don't know why yet, and i think i
will be missed be many loved ones,
as i will miss them in trun.
enough doom and gloom in the room Grren Knight, foolish as we are, I don't think we'll just lie down without a fight.
mankind has a place, I don't feel we've run the race.
