I was on this other vampire site that claims as we all know that we are not immortal or reanimated dead people seeking blood ...but they talked about an endogernous retrovirus that mutated throughout hundreds of years making more people exteremly sensitive to the sun...and people need to draw pantric energy from one source or another ...my question is do you think that this is a possiblity and if so ..do you believe you carry this virus and that is how you became a vampire...also I would like to know if this is not how you believe you came to be a vampire do tell your story please.

Retrovirus? I was born this way, just knowing. No one really knows anything about my real parents. I often was punished for having certain abilities and sensitivities. Then later in life I was taken by a Sire who did things to me which are way too personal to talk about but it CHANGED me. It's been more than 8 yrs and I still try not to hear my sire as he whispers to me. And I fight my vampiric nature every day ever since. I guess that's my story.

i once heard a story about someone who had that disease (it was extreme photosensitivity or whatever that randomly kicked in one day) they died.
i don't think it has anything to do with being a vampire, anything more than being allergic to garlic. Then again, i'm not one to view being a vampire as a good thing (as a rule, anyway)...

I don't know about a virus causing this. Also there are more that one type of "vampire". There are genetic issues that cause extreme sensitivity to light and of course, one could have severe anemia or other undderlying problems that would make a person crave blood (like Picca).

Personally, I am an energy vamp and really didn't know what I was for a long time. I short out watches all the time - to the point that I cannot wear one. When I was younger, large groups of people would always give me huge bursts of energy, but this also came with their emotions too, which was very confusing. During my studies on witchcraft I learned about psychic vamps and learned to control what I did, and learned how to "clean" the energy I took in.

there are many genetic diseases that cause vamp like nature...picca is a good one and was not on the list that the one video I watched talked about sadly I could not down load this video Iam trying to figure out how to link it...they claim also that most of us have severe psychois but also suffer from fatique and anemia and profrearia I know I spelled that last one wrong ...the virus can mutate so some would crave energy and others blood and for my self I found out I was differant at age 3 and I crave both blood and energy...I was simply a witch with a vampire fetish but the more I study and learn about my health and such I believe WE all have this retro virus mutated one way or another

That video talks about how viruses are like 'vampires'. - Replicating but not really living. - Hence why antibiotics can't 'kill' them.
I don't believe it is implying vampirism is from a retro virus.
It certainly kicks creationism in the teeth tho xD

Funnily enough I just watched a documentary "Horizon" who investigated the Human genome and how we are still evolving.
An institute in the USA is currently investigating 600 different DNa traits that the genome project has revelaed.
i.e Sherpas in the Himalayans have evolved blood that can deal with low oxygen levels and they have wide blood vessels n lots of them.
Evidence from various sources shows we are adapting to viruses and other factors. Some proffessor from Harvard has discovered we are actually getting shorter and fatter-egneticaly...he hee...so Speilberg got it soooo wrong. Personally I think the proffessor is a moron...everyone knows Hollywood types are getting taller and pretty and mexican groundworkers are getting tougher and more thick skinned. Doctors and teachers are getting bigger heads and gang memebers are getting thicker skulls and larger hands. They also dicussed how new viruses are causing nasty cancers and how we are losing the war against them, it is quite possible a disease is altering peoples Dna and or the gene switches that control diet.

Oh just so you dont sleep well...the latest virus (probably a product of mass chicken farming) kills all chicekns dead within 10 days and messes up their liuvers so badly they have huge white ulcerated growths, f it jumps to other species it is another H1N1.
There is no cure.

This subject has actually come up quite a bit around various forums I have been apart of and I must say that personally I feel it does not have weight as far as Vampyres go. Although I do respect everyone's personal opinion on what brought about their state, I am just waiting for scientific validation; like a fair portion of the Community.

I view my state--or condition, whichever is preferred--as purely metaphysical. Although it often manifests, in cases where I am not properly feeding, physically I know that the difference is much deeper than my external form. We all, whether subconsciously or not, know one another; feel our kind. There's no mistakening the energy of a Vampyre and a mundane, no amount of make-up, contact lenses or flashy gaja gear can change that. The one exception to that, from my experience, would be having a magick practitioner around. The best I can conclude is that since they also deal in energy manipulation I pick up on them (or it's that I am a practitioner as well.); it feels something like a residue left on them from past workings.

Hehe, yea, i've heard of it. Honestly, i thing that it is something similar to a retrovirus that causes vampires, but not what they say, what they, and i'm assuming you are talking about Sanguinarus, is simply something hastily put together that has really no credibility to it. the idea is good, yes, but the details are crappy.

Have you seen Dracula 2000?
similar idea.

In fact, it's a similar idea to several film scripts.

well we have controlled virus named rna which feast on informations on dna of food and helping us byproduct of humeoglobin and protine. I think this is well balanced virus and we have even platelets which can fight this retrovirus successfully. ;)

Interesting whattcha get when you Google that question...

Where can i find the V5 retrovirus if i'm looking for it?
In: Biology, Tamagotchi [Edit categories]

Real vampires are not pure fiction
Between a combination of the fact that our brains are roughly nothing more than a highly advanced mass of nerves, and that every function is controlled by signals that our brain sends through our nerves to the rest of our bodies, I think that if we could somehow make our nerves send stronger, more efficient signals at a quicker speed it would have a lot of different results. Including heightened sense (both physical and psychic) moving quicker both running and walking along with arm movement etc. The brain being just nerves would obviously also be effected, resulting in quicker more efficient thinking, which naturally would make us smarter, more observant, and have much sharper reflexes.

a syndrome? I'll grant you that maybe a possibilty. But, in pages of research, I didn't see that.

but heck, I might've missed it.

I don't know that much to be truthful about viruses...a smidge but none of the newer ones. I always called them critters.

Usually it is the V5 virus that comes up and it's a hoax but new people online and to the community tend to run across this and other propaganda and most just sit back and laugh about it. Many in the community generally don't believe in a physical tie to vampirism and most seem to poo poo a spiritual one. They will say that they are born the way they are and some believe in an awakening and others don't exactly disbelieve in that but say some have that and others not. So far there hasn't been any significant scientific studies done to tie a virus to vampirism or a gene or anything of that nature. You have to understand their are factions with various beliefs about vampirism. Some say they have a sensitivity to light and others not. I do...glare and it is extreme and documented but as to whether it has anything to do with vampirism...who knows. The facts are that no one knows the answers to these questions but they have some very educated guesses due to their own researches but many times these even conflict.

I wish I could get many to get certain tests done at the Great Plains Laboratory to see if anything significant shows such as something pervasive with all subjects. They are one of the few labs that are very sophisticated and tend to cater to the patient rather than the doctor. You get the kits and merely have to get a doctor to collect the samples and send it back. They have a variety of tests and they aren't inexpensive. It was started by a Chemist who use to work for the CDC and they do a great deal of research into autism but other things as well. Anyone can have these tests. As to whether this particular virus has anything to do with it, I would have to say there isn't enough collected information to really know that answer. I wouldn't presume to say no because it would just be my belief and not scientific.

Endogenous retroviruses are scored for being probable causes for cancer and auto-immune diseases in certain individuals....now it's a cause for being vampiric because you might be sensitive to the light or something?

Regardless...in basic understanding of this topic...genetics can play a large role in our overall health and well-being as human beings...however, an ancient virus ingrained into the DNA only to be "activated" by any variable means of a stimuli begs the question...if vampirism is the result of an activated endogenous retrovirus, then what?..pray tell? caused it to come out of its dormancy? Effect can not play out without a proper Cause.

..which I tried to illustrate with the research I provided: which can easily found, it seems, by a judicious use of Google.

I am already photosensive and, my damned antibiotics mean now I have to wrap up even more, to go out, wearing my shades and a whole lot more...

Yes indeedy Angelus...:P I'm the same way....it is a complete fact for myself as an individual that I have less pigment in the retinas of my eyes (the back or inside visually sensitive part of the ocular system) than an albino...yet...I am not an albino although I am very fair.

Contrary to what some may see in the movies or on other media, Albinos have very poor vision coupled with dancing eyes that move involuntarily from side to side in a rapid motion (aka nystagmus), making the ability to focus a forced and concentrated effort even with low-vision aids. Due to the lack of pigment in such individuals, they are highly sensitive to light and prone to migraine.

Does my individuality as a having the attributes of being fair-skinned and photosensitive as an albino would be without the low-vision problems associated with such genetic mutations make me a vampire? Depends entirely upon how you define vampire at this point I think. ;)

Well most don't believe and yes I have to say believe because there are no studies specifically on those in the vampire community other than surveys. Those have been compiled from people who voluntarily submitted them so there is no control group or anything like that to establish any validity to what was said. The average age of those involved in the survey is under 30, so they live in the age of an established community of sorts and not prior.

I personally believe some say things because it has been already said in groups they connect to over and over again and not because it is necessarily anything definitive they really know. You have camps sort of. You can find the V5 virus thing around now on the net but it was started on a hoax site and has spread. It is nothing real, but made up. If you delve inside the original website they tell you it is a hoax but most don't look that far. There are a few now that are wanting to get involved in blood testing but not sure if that will prove much of anything either unless the results can be correlated back to what people say about their health condition.

I have found that the majority who have been in and around the community believe that the condition is due to an inability to sustain energy levels and they have to go to an outside source, whether through drinking blood or gathering energy from various sources or both.

There are the minority groups that believe it is spiritual or metaphysical and they get bashed. More recently some are stating that the blood is not taken because it has some high concentration of energy beyond anything else but it has properties they are not sure of but that lead to increased health and vitality by drinking small amounts of it. (Lady CG has written an article on this topic)

The idea that any virus of any kind is involved is not considered whatsoever in any conversation I know of except to say it is not scientifically proven that one exists or causes what some consider a condition and others not. It is an ongoing debate and some are really bashed for their views. Quite frankly it is what it is and at my age, I am not that concerned what causes it but just maintaining optimum health.

Vampirics are not immortal and they get sick like anyone else but how viruses in general affect them I really don't know if it is any different than anyone else because again, no studies within the community and we all suspect some of us are not what we say so I don't know how that would be sorted out to even find a virus in common when they can't find the exact ones even for CFIDS.
