Okay so I have noticed that there are a lot of people on here that dont really know much about Vampires if at all now there are a few that know way more than others so why dont we address these questions that these folk have and actually discuss the different myths and which are more probable and so on
thank u that is the question i wanted to ask but was to fucking tired to put in to words at the time.
the one myth that intrigues me the one bout judus. from what i have read on it. after he betrayed christ he tried to kill him self and was denied death for what he had done. and as a result was dammed to live eternal on the blood of his beloved friends or christs children if u will. as for the rest of the myth i am a little rusty on it so i would have to read more in to it.
Well like I said the myth is a newer one, Judas did try to kill him self and of course never succeeded and because of the fact that not only did he Betray Christ he also tried to commit suicide which in it self is a sin and yes scripturally he was denied the breaking of the neck that comes from hanging ones self proprley or the ephxiation that comes from the improper hanging anyways God makes the rope break and he falls upon a sharp rock that slices him open from navel to sternum spilling his guts and then had birds and animals begining to eat at him before he dies and is cast into hell. The myth that he was cursed was brought on by nothing than someone wanting to put a twist on a old tale. If you think about it the scriptures still had the stories or personal accounts from the other apostles so there cant be any truth to Dracula being Judas unless the Catholic or any other Christian Church has hidden the truth but very unlikely on this paritular subject
You watched Dracula 2000 one too many times....Judas wasn't a vampire nor was he Dracula...try to decipher fact from Hollywood fiction.
I just said that we were talking about how recent the myth of judas being the first vampire was not possible I just practically quoted the bible to disprove that myth because it even states that he dies I was just saying that that myth was started because of that movie
Before you begin with the writing of posts, please I emplore you to read the content of the thread first.
I still search for the understanding about one wonderman of Europe, the Compte De St. Germaine, many believe this individual to be a vampire as well, sort of co-exists with the so-called Judas, but no two stories are exactly alike. Bare in mind now that you just speculated Judas not being a vampire...The goes the same for the Compte. Nothing is proven, but theories are boundless nonetheless.
There are many stories about St. Germaine that deal with vampirism, such as drinking a bottle of elixir supposed to be the elixir of life, containing human blood. The fact that this individual never ages but always looks ruffly around 40 years of age...So you tell me, vampire or speculation once more??
All myths are speculation all stories are speculation. The only reason why they stay myths is because of the fact that there is nothing to prove or disprove them. Germaine was a very important and powerful man, if you look back at all of the supposed vampires, Elizabeth Bathory, Vlad the Impaler, Cain, Lilith, and so on are all very powerful, important people who had stores made about them out of fear for the actions they took or out of shear fear of them or even out of some little action they took that at the time was thought to be odd or evil.
Wasn't there alot of theories about Cain at onme stage. I can't remember exacts but remember reading alot about him two years ago.
Yes there were and still are many who believe in vampires or believe they are vampires swear up and down that Cain was the first because next to Adam and Eve he was the only one to commit such a crime as murder and then the denial of GOD who he had seen, walked, and talked with. So GOD cursed him and all of his seed with a curse that all would reconize, well it doesnt stipulate what that curse was but depending on what vampire myth it is believed that vampires cant have children so then his seed would have to be turned into one of his own they would then become his children so to speak that is if he was a vampire.
This would go back to my post about St. Germaine, many believe this figure to have been Caine from the biblical side. As he did come from the land of Enoch, where Caine was first banished to. I love it when character stories clash and collide. I wonder how many other vampiric myths reside in this fashion as well.
Hmm I'm not sure I must be honest I have never heard of Germaine actually being Cain but then again there is no account to what happened to Cain, it is said that he was killed by his own people, others say that he went into hiding because of his people trying to take over, others say that he lost his ability to rule his people so he went into hiding until such time as he was able to come back and take rule, so if he was a real vampire then there is a chance that through out history Cain could have been trying to take back what was rightfully his but has never succeeded, also another thing ot think about is the fact that some myths say that vampires can change there appearence and form so lets say thats true then any leader through out history that has done horrendous things to gain more power and to force the people to do their bidding could have either been Cain in another form or mayhaps he was able to influence people to think they saw one thing and really didnt or they could have been his trusted advisers trying to get the world in their hands until Cain was ready to make a come back. That is if Cain was a vampire and vampires acutally existed
This concept of subterfuge is very well thought of, it would also go in part with thaumaturgy, to get all involved in the plan of or for domination. But, if Caine or some other vampire were to cause such havoc, why not create a bit of a small army for himself, if he could transform and parent a "coterie" persay of sorts. Would this have been a form of movement that did deteriorate the population as well.
Food for thought.
because unfortunately the "army" would be hard to control not to mention a little obvious and yet depending at what point you look at in history you could say that an army was created. I mean there was the war with Hitler now there have always been stories about how Hitler was very good at using Power of Suggestion if he told you the the sky was red then thats how you saw but what if those that followed him were either hypnotized or half way changed then there would be your vampire leader and his army especially since they never found his body and for many years after that there were sightings of him all over Europe but again thats if vampires were real and if Cain could change form and was smart enough to pull off what Hitler did. Here's one other thing we didnt think about if the myths are true and vampires can't be in the light then that pretty much blows the entire thought of the water.
Nah, the water was pure religion, Jesus did supposedly curse a roman soldier for kicking the water cup from his hands before the crucifiction...This roman called gladius something or another, was cursed to walk eternity until Jesus's second coming...Something like that.
you misunderstood i was saying that our little theory of Cain being able to change into anything or anyone he wanted and raising an army would be blown to hell for the very fact that the myths say that vampires cannot indure the sunlight therefore an army would have to be crreated to move at night only and if that had happened then we would not be here today the world would have been taken over by vampires a long time ago because vampires are stonger and faster at night and the change does not always take as long as it does in the movies so yeah now what
Well there is no such thing as true or false when it comes to vampires it just conjecture but supposedly the vampire is dead and there fore has no soul and seeing as how the eyes are the window to the soul well then no they couldnt also mirrors are gateways to other realms and vampires are not welcome in these other realms
okay so for those of you who want more info on the theories of Cain and Lilith, Vlad the impaler, and Judas Iscariot then go here I think what you read you will find very interesting

Summary
Genesis (4:1-17) presents a brief account of the brothers. This passage, in the Bible, at the crux of the story of Cain and Abel reads:
The story continues with God approaching Cain asking about Abel's whereabouts. In a response that has become a well-known saying, Cain answers, "Am I my brother's keeper?"
Finally, seeing through Cain's deception, as "the voice of [Abel's] blood is screaming to [God] from the ground", God curses Cain to wander the earth. Cain is overwhelmed by this and appeals in fear of being killed by other men, and so God places a mark on Cain so that he would not be killed, stating that "whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be upon him sevenfold". Cain then departs, "to the land wandering". Early translations instead stated that he departed "to the Land of Nod", which is generally considered a mistranslation of the Hebrew word Nod, meaning wandering. Despite being cursed to wander, Cain is later mentioned as fathering a lineage of children, and founding a city, which he named Enoch after the name of his son.
Here is the story from the Qur'an (5:27-31) translated into English:
Now back the speculations of the wars, from the war before the supposed first flood, to the great wars of WW1 WWII, and so forth, do you think these wars may have been all for not, or was there some other force, maybe vampiric in nature controling them? Skeptisisms would put vampires no where near each war, but it would have been an excellent stronghold for them.
Hell, Caine was a great warrior by blood, as well as Vlad, Elizabeth Bathory and countless others.
Keep in mind, you can find a reference that "fits the mold" in other religions -- even as far back as the Greeks. So this is really a neverending circle of conjecture -- I like it!
First, Vampires are not a myth, they are mentioned in folklore in many cultures that had no contact with each other, only something in our dark deepest memories is mentioned that much. Second Lilith is perhaps the first Vampire, she pre dated Cain. As to Judas being made a vampire as a punishment? I must repeat a line heard during the eucharist millions of times daily, "DRINK THIS FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD" THE LAST SUPPER A VAMPIRE RITE? OF COURSE, A RITE WE REPEAT DAILY EVEN NON VAMPIRES. Then of course the idea that Vampires rise on the third night (changed to day by some)
I fear we may reading the Bible a little too literally, and not within the context it had been written.
Cain was doomed to wander and not be murdered by other men because "God" wanted the punishment to be guilt. Death would have been a sweet release.
The Last Supper, when Jesus said "Drink this for this is my blood"..... bit of a stretch there. I hope you know he was speaking metaphorically.
Can't really comment on Judas. As far as I know, he killed himself and that was the end of it. Where did the whole idea of vampire and Judas stem from?
but what of resputian. he was a powerful man. he was the czar's healer so to say. but many believed him to be something not of this world. there was many attemps on his life most of which had failed until a group of the czars underlings shot, hung, posioned, drawn, club and much more before he finally died. he held Russia in his hands for four years.
Rasputin was also a very strong brauny man who grew up on the frozen tundra of Siberia. It may be assumed that the poison did no good as he was constantly on some form of chemical. The shootings, beatings and stabbings would have killed him eventually if he had not been stuffed into a carpet and thrown into a frozen river. The only thing I can give as a reason for why they didn't kill him immediately is because of his adrenaline and/or the drugs he may have been on at the time.
As for holding Russia in his hands, he was actually more of a scapegoat for the people to blame the downfall of the Romanov dynasty on. He wasn't really all that bad of a guy. He just liked to have fun. Plus he was the only one who could heal the young prince who suffered from hemophelia.
Many ot the myths held hearor fables as ome would say. Many stories are inturpatation of elders and the writings of fact or bed time stories. wether it was cain and the book of nod, Or the fiction of vlad tepes as a vampire, or lady bathorny. Some try to indulge the fact of the people with the stories of hollywood. yet in a lot of cases Hollywood does follow the fable with minor twists on the plot to draw us the audience in. many now only know Vampires by the movies or the books that they have dwelled in. Who is to sy what may be right. Is judas the first Vampire reports are vage, and as a christian i am prone to say alot of the bibles is still missing pages. like many other texts. Cain or lilth the first to roam because they are shunned by gods good grace turned to a vampire. I like this post because it brings out alot of questions that some may not have just read and are looking for answers.
Ok so we now have even more people to consider from history as being vampires but lets not get carried away because before we know it we will be saying the Houdini was a vampire because of his great escapes and theres no point in going that far.
As for the wars they nay not have been for not, tell me if you were a vampire who wanted to have the entire world at your feet what better way to accomplish that then trial and error after all as long as the human race exists there is plenty of guinea pigs to try new things not to mention if your a vampire you have nothing but time on your side to try to find a way that works
Or on the other hand with the wars, istead of finding ways to control the war mongering, finding new ways of ending them...By cutting them short behind the scenes. Diplomatic communications. If and a big IF, Hitler was a vampire, he was uncontrollable.
Again, the conversation on St. Germaine and his many identities, was rumored to be behind the scenes at almost every war that has taken place in the centuries. As consul to queens and kings alike.
I only know of 3 myths as to the origins of vampires, the first that they are children of Lilith, that they are the descendants of Juda's or the descendants of Caine.
I have even read a strange theory that Vampires are actually aliens... LOL now that would be an interesting twist in this debate :D
hmmm vampires from another planet...hehe....it is said that a vampire cannot come into the dwelling of a person unless invited first...wonder where that came from?
alot of myths try to get you to believe that they are the real one but with out proff they will always be just that a myth. so we cant proff any thing is true.
some myths are true, while others are false.
and isent there a myth forum already open?...that bloodlife started???????
To understand about Vampirism, you must separate your fiction (movies) from reality. Vampirism exist. But, for the Mortal world, is just a myth. Is better to keep it at a myth, then to face a reality that can change the scope of the human race.
true keep it a myth because if people actually believed in vampires it would end up being like the witch back in the day and would turn into a slaughter. Alot of people refuse to believe the strange and would rather kill it then to try to embrace and understand it.
people are going to beleve whatever they want is all I am saying
I have to disagree about people making it a witch hunt so to speak if you look at the world today you will see that people think that those who are say goth are weird well it would be the same with someone who is vampire because for all the people in the world would probably think that the vampire was just one of those strange goths that were into being like the vampire
mtyh and fiction are a reality that we cant escape, wether we agree with what is real and what is myth we cannot deny tha fact that each myth is the influence of a reality or is link in some way to the realety we see o choose to see.
The many myth are most fo the time religion related, and cause deep trouble and hardship around, along with unwanted conflict.
As for my own curiosity about the myth I am curious of the one about dracula himself, many myth goes around and some are mostl realistic, some are not. which is?
It's interesting reading this thread that so many people have so many different ideas about the origins of vampirism, but that so many of them come back to the christian bible. i've always thought you could make the bible say anything to fit your purpose, it's so full of contradictions and this is proving my point nicely.
If we're going to talk about myths surrounding vampires then surely we first have to come to a conclusion on what a vampire actually is?
..the ladies right, the bible like the Koran is a book made up by different authors at different times: the earliest bit being written about a hundred years AFTER the death of Jesus the Nazerene.
..this cannot be used as sourse reference, surely??
LizSara-
The problem with defining what is a Vampire stems from the fact that so many cultures have Myths of Vampire like creatures. Each and all of which have different twists to them. From Japan to Africa. Middle East to the heart of Europe. There are multiple accounts of creatures that tend to share many "Vampire" like qualities. One tends to wonder if the Vampire is not as Varied as anyother species in the animal Kingdome.
What if there is more than one "original" Vampire? What if a hand full of people where cursed or damned or whatever. That would help to explain why there are so many different stories about the vampire.
people should know or understand what a Vampire truely is before the myths are to be believed...
We cannot know what a Vampire truly is because of the fact that as we know it now and as others have said the vampire is very varied in discription. In the most general of descriptions it is a person that is the undead that feasts on the blood of the living. Well then you also have a vampire being an entity that is from the depths of hell that has escaped and takes over a persons body and must have blood of the innocent to survive. You have energy vampires, sexual vampires, psi vampires, etc the list goes on and on there is no real way to describe what a vampire is. Hell a person that steals from another can be considered a vampire for the very fact that a vampire takes what is not theirs therefore that would be the description. In fact here are the definitions of a vampire that I googled:

I agree with you rayvyn, but people should do there research, anything worth knowing is worth researching.
first going with the judas thing, I hate spouting bible stuff but anyways.
jesus christ- son of god
judas- friend to jesus
god- sent his son to earth to die for our sins
so did judas really betray jesus or was it planned that way from the start(speaking in a biblical christiany type of way)
on top of that the attempted suicide i agree pending on your religion could have spelt hell for judas however with the work he did to help jesus to the cross I highly doubt he was one who had to go to hell for sins, especially since it states that once jesus died all previous sins had been washed away.
ok enough about christian stuff LOL
hmm vampire myths yeah caine was thought one I mean the description walk forever marked never to be striked down by man and the blood offering he gave to god as abl
vampire I think not, however contribution to myths yes
one of my favorite myths as common as it is would be that of vlad tepest or the bakulites from greece
i have heard of the Cain myth and of a "damned" god that made vampires, and even a vampiric spirit but i don't really believe in those, the one i prefer to think about is Lilith, although i don't believe the myth word for word.
but then again this is just my beliefs and the other myths have the same value, i would never say anything is really impossible.
P.S sorry if this posted twice my computers abit screwy tonight.
