For some, the sight and smell of blood is sexualally arrosing. For others, the thought makes them shutter. What does bloodletting mean to you in the vampire sense? Have you tried it? If so...what satisfation do you get out of it?

Very interesting question. Yes I have tried it and when I drink it makes me feel more alive and I don't feel so unpredictable anymore.

heres a link i thought to be interesting related to bloodletting.

The practice of bloodletting seemed logical when the foundation of all medical treatment was based on the four body humors: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile. Health was thought to be restored by purging, starving, vomiting or bloodletting.

The art of bloodletting was flourishing well before Hippocrates in the fifth century B.C. By the middle ages, both surgeons and barbers were specializing in this bloody practice. Barbers advertised with a red (for blood) and white (for tourniquet) striped pole. The pole itself represented the stick squeezed by the patient to dilate the veins.

Bloodletting came to the U. S. on the Mayflower. The practice reached unbelievable heights in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The first U.S. president, George Washington, died from a throat infection in 1799 after being drained of nine pints of blood within 24 hours. The draining of 16-30 ounces (one to four pints) of blood was typical. Blood was often caught in a shallow bowl. When the patient became faint, the "treatment" was stopped. Bleeding was often encouraged over large areas of the body by multiple incisions. By the end of the 19th century (1875-1900), phlebotomy was declared quackery.

A variety of devices were used to draw blood:

The lancet was first used before 5th Century B.C. The vein was manually perforated by the practitioner. Many shallow cuts were sometimes made.

Spring loaded lancet

Spring loaded lancets came into use during the early 18th Century. The device was cocked and a "trigger" fired the spring-driven blade into the vein.

The fleam was heavily used during the 18th and 19th centuries. Many varieties exist. Sometimes a wooden "fleam stick" was used to hit the back of the blade and drive it into the vein. (Ouch!) The fleam was often used by veterinarians.

Scarificator

The scarificator, a series of twelve blades, was also in vogue during the 18th Century, This device was cocked and the trigger released spring-driven rotary blades which caused many shallow cuts. The scarificator seems more merciful than the other blood-letting instruments.
Blood was caught in shallow bowls. During the 17th to 19th centuries, blood was also captured in small flint glass cups. Heated air inside the cups created a vacuum causing blood to flow into the cup - a handy technique for drawing blood from a localized area. This practice was called cupping.

Flint cup.

The blood, being of a sacred nature should be the only stimulae one needs. If you can get past the taste (depending on what your consort had eat before hand) of the irony content.

It would be described as putting a penny in your mouth for about 5 minutes, but a bit sweeter in taste.

For me it is a release. The whole world becomes more focused and calm and every stress and pain fades out. I am somewhat obsessive when it comes to blood so the sight of it anywhere will immediately have a similar effect on me. However, it is strongest when it is either my own blood spilling, or when I am instrumental in taking someone elses blood.

Blood is life... and for me it is alluring, just the thought of watching blood coming out... the act of sharing blood is so intime and has to be consensual... but even then, it's very sexually related...

The sight and smell of blood wants me to consume it immediately. It is like a feeding urge, wich needs to be fulfilled, and it feels like there is never enough.

Nice opinions!
So you are saying that all feeding of blood is sexual related right??
So why can't it be anything else besies that.
(This mainly goes to people who hav sucked blood from someone else)

The act of bloodletting is a practice between two persons who trust each other to get tested (vampire or not, as it is a fetish).

My Master and I do this for each other every so often, the scars on my chest above my heart a testement-- at lesat to me-- of my devotion to him. He does in fact have one scar above his heart as well, but most of them are across his arm or bicep.

When energy is not enough, or the euphoria of a sexual act nearly pushes us over the edge, bloodletting gives us that extra boost in order to become closer to each other.

In a way, its a feast of one's bloodline as well as the story of their life-- their passions, their fears and triumphs.

...at least that is what I have fuond in my own, personal experience.

So when to do that to each other they basically share everything??
I mean you can see what they have been thru in life because if so that is amazing.

Not a matter of seeing it as it is a matter of sensing it-- and with my experience with several others, the taste is also different.

Master tasts like lightning-- it energizes me and sometimes he has to ask me to stop feeding from him.

Mathias use to taste like a sweet liquor, and was a bit thicker as well. It lulled me, and made me feel safe.

I feel bloodletting is very sexual in nature and have done so many times.. I find the smell, look, taste, and feel of blood very stimulating and I find the urge to have it sometimes overwhelming.. However it's not the same for everyone and there are those who can not stand the sight smell or taste of blood at all..

When you find someone who you can share this with it is like no other sexual experience you can imagine if both are into the act of bloodletting..

This is a very interesting topic. I have tried it and I personally can't stand the taste, like soulshroude said it taste like putting loose change in your mouth. I did however get the crave for it again, but I didn't fullfill my craving. That was a few years ago, after awhile the craving just faded away. I don't think that i will ever try it again, it personally didn't do nothing for me. I guess it just depends on the person.

I have had an unexplainable craving to do this for a long time now but i'm not sure how to go about it, also i'm a little worried about the social stigma as nobody I know thinks the same way I do. It makes me feel so alone & would love to have that feeling of closeness that such an action would provide.

bloodletting is a very intiment thing it is arousing in many ways sometimes in every way possible. some need it to survive others need it to feel alive and some need to feel a bond which is what you get through a bloodletting.

I have done it before yes. And I did find it a turn-on. To me its also something else, an act of ultimate trust on behalf of one partner. But it must be done willingly. If you have the trust in a relationship to let someone cut you, then there can be no greater degree of trust at all.

So yeah, I love bloodletting. Not serious amounts of blood mind you, just enough to give that sense of trust to myself or my partner.

If I see some one hurt and bloody I get sick to my stomach.
But when with someone intimately bloodletting can be very erotic to me. I have done it and I enjoy it very much. Doesn't mean that its done all the time. It is something very special with someone very special and eveyrthing has to be just right. ......

To me it's very erotic, sexual, you are trusting, and connecting with another in a way no one else can. It's satisfing on so many levels for me, it quenches a thirst I have for it, plus it has such a connection with it to the person you love, there is nothing else that can come close to this experince.

I love the taste of another person's blood in my mouth, so far I've only had the opportunity to drink two different people's blood. I think it's only two because I trust them and I know that they don't have any diseases that can be passed onto me. As for being a donor, I didn't like it that much until recently.

I agree with bloodcreep.. sorry i had to scroll down quickly because im on my way out :) I havent purposely did the bloodletting on myself or anything..but let me tell you by experience... i have a bad habit of losing alot of blood ..not by choice..it gets to the poiht that your body becomes lifeless and you truely feel like a zombie.... you lose your sense of touch taste and but your sense of smell is enhance for some reason so is your sense of hearing.... its wierd to have ur body numb and to know ur walking but dont feel yourself walking.. anyway to make the long story short...after being hospitalised from the lack of blood in your system i got 4 pints of blood put in me

now the site of blood to me is beautiful..its what gives us life...the taste the smell..... but the smell between fresh blood compared to wheh you are becoming severly anemic is a different taste and smell....it smells of death..and its not so sweet smelling nor erotic...

droplets compared to bags being pumped into you are completely different
the wierd thing is
if i get a big cut and see myself bleeding its not so big of a deal...blood letting is erotic ....for some reason seeing the same thing being pumped back into you is a erie feeling and a bit scarey ...dont know why that is.......wow ok i think i bor4ed everone and went off on a tangent
