since everyone is talking about suncreen, I decided to open a thread. If it goes unused.. I can always delete it.
The object of this thread? We are searching for the absolutely HIGHEST GRADE and BEST sunscreen out there. (so it should be waterproof).
If you know of one, please put a link here so people can check it out.. and possibly purchase it.

They had up to SPF 50 at the local wal-mart, can't remember if it was waterproof or not!
i found a oil-free, waterproof, spray-it-on, coppertone at target for $8 and it is SPF 50...............no trowel needed!!!
Avon also has a SPF 50 which is waterproof... and supposedly sweat proof. www.avon.com
I almost forgot.. be sure to pick up a really good After Sun Lotion.. or a rehydrating moisturiznig lotion. You will want to use this at night before bed while on the cruise. It will help keep your skin from drying.. and we all know that the evil sun tends to cause aging from overexposure.
Oh yeah, can never forget that moisturizer. It's a girl's best friend aside from the bullet! Hee hee!
::makes no comment due to her having to stay professional::
Did I read somewhere that the pools on board the ship are supposed to be open at night just for us?
There will be a pool party or two for us two use. Generaly, at night is when they change out the water in the pools and clean them.
I purchased some Hiwaian Tropic Sunblock Lipbalm SPF 45 at walmart. They had diferent types. Protecting the Eyes with Sunglasses & the Lips with Chapstick/sunblock & the Body with Sunblock is all important.
Hey everybody, Zaida was telling me how the water in the pool is actually filtered sea water, so uber good for zee skin... Just one more perk for all of us... Hopefully they'll keep the lights down around the pool so it does not show horid cellulite in horror movie clarity...*shivers* Spooky thought.
*I was checking last night before I left work and Walgreens makes an SPF 70...there is also one by Neutrogena (SPF 70)*
Another place I randomly wandered was my local army surplus store. They have high spf/insect repellent (non DEET even!).
I don't know about the SPF... I'm assuming Walmarts going to have what I need... But yeah, we should be having the pools open for like 2-3 nights. Thats not to say that its going to be a "private" affair... which means, likely, no Swimming in the buff. But hey, no worries... the fact that we get to swim, at night, with a bar 12 feet away... Woot woot!!
No offense, but I don't wanna see y'all in the buff anyway :P. The feeling should be mutual, as I do not 'tan' so much as 'burn and get skin cancer'.
Speaking of "In the buff", a note to those ladies who prefer to tan or sun sans top. If you have sailed previously on Carnival, they had an area around the funnel of the ships wich permitted topless sunning. This is no longer the case as Carnival has eliminated this opion fleet wide.
Not that many of us "darklings" want to lay out in the sun, but just in case, I though you might want to know. This decision by Carnival has caused quite a stir amonst fans of Carnivla Crulse Line.
O.o Hmmmm... Possibly people missed the "at night" part of my comment... But hey, no worries. I didn't think people were going to be that in the first place.. I was just making conversation... Which, I did! Yay!!
Yeah, Carnival used to allow the topless sunbathers... but I think that they had problems with it fitting into their "family" image.
Nope don't care for the sun so, no worries on the sunning or the spf 9999. I am really looking forward to the night swims though, with the bar being really close. Maybe I should just stay in the shallow end of the pool.
Not that I am a doctor or anything but there is alot of talk that spf30 which blocks 97% of uv is the best and that anything higher really does not do that much for you except cost a bit more on occasion. Thought i would share
I saw a CNN article on suncreens and I though my fellow cruisers might find it of interest.

But yeah, it's pretty much the consensus (among those who care about/study these things that anything above 30 is a waste)
