I went to the VNV Nation Concert here in Tampa Bay last night.. and I had a few minutes with Ronan...
I bet you want to know whats up huh?
1. VNV Nation has new material they will be performing on the Gothic Cruise.. isnt that grand!
2. VNV Nation has confirmed performances for the next 2 events put out by All Genre Travel through 2009.
And finaly.. we all know that some of the best bands out there, like VNV Nation, are located in Europe... (insert wiggling eyebrows here) Ronan has offered to assist All Genre Travel in getting some of those bands over here for some of the events put out by All Genre Travel.
This means our events will continue to grow.. and you just may see a few bands over here, that dont get to come to the US very much - if at all.
Ronan has already assisted in getting a very well known band for the 2009 Gothic Cruise.. and Yes.. VNV Nation will be playing at our Club Med Event next year.
Band press releases for the next two events will go public in July 2007.
Now.. if you are already booked for the 2007 gothic cruise.. and do not want to wait to put in your advance deposits for 2009... you will be able to do so. The deposit will be 50.00 per person with a 100.00 per person repeat goth cruiser discount. You will be able to deposit after I have released the date for the 2009 cruise in July along with the bands.
I am still hammering out the Club Med events and finalizing other band contracts.. but will go public with that in a month or two. I will be posting an update on that too.
Yup.. im ready for a break now.
We're not worthy!
Ronan is a cool guy, though he really does need a secretary as we discussed :p
Okay.. to clarify...
Originaly.. as you note on your invoices.. if you put down your 50.00 per person deposit while onboard the 2007 cruise.. you got 100.00 off per person.
However, I have had a slew of emails from many of you not wanting to wait. So you will be able to do this starting in July. There will be a 2 week window where those people already booked on the 2007 cruise - will be able to put in an advance reservation at 50.00 a person BEFORE it goes public.
This means if you are already sailing on the 2007 cruise.. you would get first choice on the best cabins for the 2009 during that 2 week period. YOU MUST BE BOOKED ON THE 2007 CRUISE TO DO THIS.
This is a loyalty reward which is why it is being done.
I am finalizing which ship the 2009 cruise will be on this month.. I am debating between: Carnival.. and one of the huge ships by Royal Caribbean. Royal Caribbean's ships are bigger.. and just awesome.. but Carnival has better pricing and inclusions - which is a better value for your cruise dollar.. you get more free alcohol with carnival too (just being honest).
argh..

Just my $0.02 Z, but I don't have the need for a rock climbing wall, ice rink, mini golf or extra charge hamburger joint...If you catch my drift!
Lower cost, more extras, more free hooch sound right up my alley!
WOOT WOOT!! I cant wait to hear whos playing... I want to know the band before I say 100% we are going but I am sure you booked a great band...
After seeing the VNV Nation concert at Jannus Landing, I can hardly wait until the cruise in October!
You need KMFDM on board. Sacha is such a great person. Definetly a man of the Fans...
Oh yah. They're a total blast everytime they hit Denver too. Always such nice guys.
yeah, totally nice guys... okay, I don't really know, but if you say so, I'll believe you. I'm pretty sure I'll be going on the 2009 cruise, more time to save up for it :) But I'll wait to see if I get wicked bad motion sickness... Alcohol cures that, right?
Packing up the desk at work right now. I will head home, get changed into something appropriate, and head down to Philly for the VNV show tonight.
Doors open at 6:30 and the Troc is SRO so we will try to be there then. I'm looking forward to And One almost as much as VNV Nation.
I will report back tomrrow. (Or in the wee hours if my ears are ringing too bad to sleep when we get home!).
OMFG! What an awesome night!
We go to the Troc at around 6:45, headed upstairs, got some libations and snagged a seat in the center of the balcony.
And One did a great set. They are a very dynamic group and did a great set including the club favorites Panzer Mensch and Military Fashin Show.
The VNV set was stunning! They played for a solid hour or so and then came back for 3 encours. They were having some tchnical difficulties with the video and lighting system that Ronan kept appligizing for, but I doubt anyone would have even noticed had he not pointed it out. There was an issue early on from some over zealous folks on the floor moshig it up. Ronan called them out, threatend to throw them out himself and then security delth with it. His comment after the incident was funny. "Cut the crap, this isn't a Slayer concert!"
The After Party was in the "White Room" at Shampoo. It was held as a benefit event for Frank Miller, who was one of the keyboardists on VNV's last tour. He is very ill and the proceeds were to go toward his medical expenses. We had an awesome time there and got to meet Ronan and Mark as well as the guys from And One.
The other event being held at Shampoo at the same time was "Shaft Friday", A gay gathering. Quite frankly it seemed like a "meat market" disco scene from the early 80's, only all Gay and Lesbian. I have never had an encounter with the G/L nightlife before. I was quite surpized at the dress of some of the guys, only wearing G-stringy thongish things. It was odd to me that all of the Goths seemed "normal". And I'm not bashing the GLTB community, it was just surpizing. There were a few same sex goth couples there, and they seemed just as normal to me as the rest of the goths.
On a side note, I think we talked our friend Candice into going on the cruise. We will see her tonight at Shadowland and give her a link to here, the cruise sute and Allgenre's email.
I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER!
I appologize for all of the typos in the above post. My brain was going faster than my fingers....
KCRC: I was a little disappointed that Ronan's vocals on 'Descent' were barely audible... and then some people on the floor actually booed at the end of it... it happened to be my first favorite song on the new CD. I got stuck standing on the floor because my sister forgot her ID... I'm very short... and couldn't see very well...even with my platform shoes! :o(
Over all I was extremely pleased with the performance.... I also can't wait til October!!!
Maybe the acoustics were better in the balcony? The Descent lyrics were lower in volume than I thought they should have been, but we were able to hear them upstairs. That problem lies with however was working the mixer board. (I know as I do some very amature sound mixing...So I am very aware what defficiencies lie within my "realm"). I never heard any feedback, so I have no idea why they would have turned the vocal leval down like that.
Did you get to the after party?
*No, I couldn't go to the After Party... I worked that day so I was worried about falling asleep while driving home plus both of us had work the next morning*
Yeah, lucily for us it only takes around a half hour to get home at 2:00AM. It took an hour and a half to get into philly before the show thought!
If you are interested I took a couple of pics of DarkAngelGina with And One and Mark from VNV, they are in my portfolio.
VNV Nation hit TO last night and they were excellent they played a 2 hour set. Ronan loved the crowd. He said it was the biggest concert so far this tour.
I've seen them a couple of times so far, and this latest concert(And One/VnV Nation) was a great time. Not only was the band in full swing (with some new faces on stage), but the company was infinately more enjoyable than the previous concert.
If I was one of those rating guys... O.o ... I'd have to give it a solid 9.9 on the Fun-o-meter. I'm seriously looking forward to seeing them again, on this ship. With booze! On this Ship. With booze! One this Ship. With Booze!!!
(end tape. Please insert side two)
With booze!! WOOT WOOT!!!
I'm still hoping to catch them in June when they come here. Everyone, including my gf and her parents are going (they love 'em too). I have a late class that night, so we'll see.
If not, on the ship! muwuahaha!
I've been pumped about the L.A. show coming up in June as I've never seen them in concert. The Youtube videos are awesome though.. . :) Does anyone know if they sell those VNV button-up shirts at the concerts? I figure they do, but I don't want to go there and find out I'm out of luck. I'll just order online in that case.
Indeed they do sell the "Work Shirts" at the concert. I payed $35.00 for mine. I think they are 35.00 Euro on the website plus shipping. Get it at the concert!
BTW, they are identical to the one Ronan wears and they are great quality.
*I'm planning on getting a decal of the whole design on back of the new tour shirts made for the back window of my car, I'll post pics when I put it on! :o)
