What do you think about them remaking this classic horror? Kudos for releasing it on 06/06/2006!
(Do NOT post 'I'll go look' followed by a second post giving your opinion. We're all aware you need to go to the link in order to see it)
*sighs* I can't get the trailer to load. Still...I think in the right hands a re-make of the omen could be pretty kick ass.
Intresting look so far...but remakes make me so nervous I make my friends who know my tastes go before me and tell me what they thought. The pessimist in me says it will fall into the dustbin of history, but as always I'll hope until the bitter end that maybe, just maybe, there will be someone with enough vision to create a new take on an intresting story.
I'm a big fan of the original trilogy, so to a degree I don't see the point of a remake.
However, a more contemporary setting, not to mention the current religious climate, could make for an interesting update.
Whether they go that route or just literally remake it frame for frame... we'll have to wait and see.
Me personally I think they should leave the originals alone that's what made them unique in the first place... Don't get me wrong a remake in the right hands and with a powerful enough imagination it could be pretty cool...
But come on...the omen..? I think they should leave it be, it's about like trying to remake cujo... The remake may be kool and all, but it'll never have the same horror/thriller feeling as the classics....
I am not sure what to think of remakes.. usually the orginals are the best..
I'll give them that it is an interesting time to put it out on the 6/6/06...
I cannot watch the trailer because we don't have sound on our computer but I still want to express my opinion. I absolutely hate remakes. I think remakes for the most part are dumb and often happen when directors run out of good ideas for more movies. This isn't always the case but for the most part it is...
What I want to know, is will the cast and crew be struck by constant tragedy as in the last making?
I;ve got this information from various websites and a documentary that was on before Christmas last year.
On the very first day of filming a crew member was involved in a head on collision with one of the film comapnies station wagons.
On a flight from London to Los Angeles, Gregory Peck's plane was struck by lightening. A few days later the Omen screenwriter David Seltzer took the same flight. HIS plane was also hit by lightening.
Richard Donner narrowly escaped being crushed when a speeding car crashed into the passenger door of the car he was exiting (which was driven by the prducer Harvey Bernhard.)
in the "Devil Dog" scene, in the Italian graveyard where the Hounds of Hell attack Peck and photographer David Warner, one of the dogs tore through the padding and metal suit protecting the stuntman, who required stitches.
The day the film crew finished filming in the tiger compound (a scene that was never used) one of the zoohands was attacked by a tiger and killed.
The film makers posponed a shot featuring a plane so that the owner could take a full charter. The smae day the plane took off, hit a flock of birds, losts its engines and went down onto the end of the ringway and into the street, crashing into a car and killing the people inside... the pilots wife and two of his children. Everyone onboard also died.
Richardson (special FX supervisor behind the beheading scene) was involved in a car crash in Holland with his assistant, who was cut in half. Exclusive interviews with Richardson recall the first thing he saw when he looked out of the windscreen, a sign reading:
"666KM to OMMEN."
just a question about the orginal- did the boy actually die? because there were two coffins at the end- an adult sized one and a child sized one- but then right at the end the boy was standing right beside the president- can anyone shed some light on this?
That was spooky! I loved the original and i have a natural fear of remakes:P But it seems like it's gonna be a good one!
Nice, Echo! I was looking up the curse of the Omen too. There are websites devoted to it haha
I just hope the remake gets an adult rating.
Remember when horror movies WERE'NT aimed at 15 year olds?
....a remake of the omen and it will be out in june....I actually want to see it;I have to watch the original again at some point, though. I haven't see that all the way through since I saw it premeire....
Dominar LordVlkodlak Edit: This event has come and gone. I hope it was a good time had by those who attended; and may it now rest in peace.
