Tara flopped down on the grass pull her knees to her chest to take off her shoes> hangeing out in the garden was never fun unless you were barefoot and bra free or at least that's what Jessie has always said. Tara looked up at her best friend. The strong, free spirited Jessie she was so mature.....but she has to grow up faster than the rest of her class. Most people hated Jessie she dressed like a boy, talked like a boy, and it was no secret that she was a lesbian, but Tara loved her they ahd been best friends since diapers how could she not.

"Tara what are you stareing at?"

Jessie cocked an eyebrow smileing like an idiot happy to have caught Tara stareing at her.

"Nothing Jessie nothing at all"

Tara struggles with her knee high chucks to pull them off. Jessie chuckled grabbing her foot and pulling,

"Tara can I have your heart?"

Tara was shocked by this question she knew Jessie must have been jokeing but she had never heard her sound so serious.

"Jessie I think that dye is getting to your brain"

Tara ran her fingers through Jessie's black and blue hair only to hjave Jessie grab her hand intertwineing their fingers.

"I'm serious can I have your heart?"

Tara was confused as a whirling mixture of emotions fell upon her body life a wave upon the sand. She stared at Jessie as she repeated the question for the third time.

"Can...I...Have...Your...Heart?"

"yes Jessie you can have my heart"

Tara looked away in fear and shame before Jessie placed her hands on either side of her face stareing at her.

"good I just had to know it was mine

Tara choked up the next sentence slowly between tears.

"and what about me? I cant live without a heart"

Slowly a single tear fell from Jessie's eye, it had been years since Tara had seen her cry.

"it can be done Tara, it's painful, but you can live without a heart"

Tara caught the tear and flicked it away on the grass

"can I have yours?"

Jessie chuckled and gently kissed Tara. Tara was amazed at how beautiful the kiss was she leaned into it...yes this was the love she had searched for. Jessie pulled back there foreheads pushed together.

"Tara my heart has been yours for years"
