POSTING PICTURES ON VR: A Tutorial!!!04:18 Apr 09 2009
Times Read: 635
This Tutorial is for PHOTOBUCKET users. To paste pictures in your profile, in your journal, in the comment/rate box, and in the forums (coven, and main forums).
I uses Photobucket, and I'm not familiar with other photo hosting sites.
The Picture above is a screen shot of the code box, as it appears under your picture....
Copy the code that is shown to use (the "HTML code").
Put it where you want it to go. When you paste the code, the first part of the code will say: < a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank" >
That part of the code is what makes the picture clickable. Clicking the picture will take you to either the main page of Photobucket.com, or the page where the picture is located.(For demonstrative purposes, I left this portion of the code in, so you can actually click the picture and see what I mean.) Leaving this code attached to your picture, and having LOTS of these clickable pictures on a profile make the profile page load slowly. I mean REALLY slow. I cannot rate profiles with a lot of pictures that are clickable, because it freezes my browser.
I always delete this part of the code from all my pictures. The following is the same picture as above, only the code has been removed so its not longer clickable. :)
As you can see, the box that surounds the picture is no longer there. (It normally shows up on some of the other pages of VR, not always, but most of the time) That is one of the first signs that its not a clickable picture. The other signs are that when you wave your pointer/mouse over the picture, it stays an arrow (or whatever your default shape is). Clicking it will do nothing.
If I want to leave the picture clickable, but want it to lead me somewhere else (like say the home page of the coven I am a member of, or my personal web page, ect), I'll replace the URL inside the " " with the URL of the page I want the picture to lead to.
The second portion of the code will say: < img src="http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g197/RavenKeeperOfOld/tutorials/VRPicturecodes.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket" >
That part of the code is the URL of where the picture is actually hosted. This code is very important in whether or not your picture will show up.
The last part of the picture code is < /a >
This part of the coding is the closing tag for the entire code. LEAVE THAT PART OF THE CODE ALONE
