her new life

She took down the picture of him

now shut up in a drawer never to see daylight

her new life is ready to begin.

She doesn't glance at the phone now

the computer hardly gets warm anymore

her new life has another tale.

She plays with her kids with so much pride

smiling at memories of the past

her new life is her desired ride.

She will look back one day and she will know

never doubting how he loved her

her new life meant it was time for him to go.

She sat there needing a friend

Just sat and listened to me screaming

She just needed a friend

I just ranted, I couldn't see it wasn't about me

I let her down

Let her fall

I felt her grip release

She got up and walked away

I realised I was the bastard

I screamed for her to come back

I needed to say sorry

Too late

She never heard .. or cared.
