Transplant Surgery Complete!!!

Well yet again I have been gone for a while...

This time because I have had my liver transplant surgery!

I had the surgery (14 HOURS!!!) October 7 and both my cousin (my donor/lifesaver) and myself were doing great! After surgery we didnt even go to ICU, we went straight to the step down unit. Of course problems, al though minor set in about a week later. Then finally on the 19th I was allowed to go home.

Armed with home care nurses to come in and my massive bag of meds. I have to take 18 pills a day now... wow! And I hate taking pills!

I was scheduled for my first return check up on the 28th, this past wednesday, and also to have the staples removed from my abdomen...

Well here it is friday the 30th, actually it's actually very early saturday the 31st and I am STILL in the hospital.

After doing bloodwork they found my "numbers" to be outta whack and my white blood cells to be very high, which indicates an infection being fought off. Well since I have a very compromised immune system now, due to the anti-rejection drugs which lower you immune system to almost nil, an infection in the first three months can be fatal. So admitted to the hosptial and IV'd immediately to heavy duty antibiotics. CT Scans, xrays and ultrasounds ordered.

And yesterday they found some form of mass near my liver. They are thinking its an infection of some sort hence the anitbiotics. But also could be a leak or bleeding... they dont know. The ultrasounds will be reaviewed to day so that I get an answer.

But they said my new liver is working great and my liver enzymes are escellent! So that is good new!

Since I am in the hospital I can not put up my surgery photos and the one of the incision! She's huge and a beaut!!! But I will.

So in a nutshell everything went great with the , follow up not so great, the constant pain not so great, cant lift anything over 10 lbs or really do anything for the first three months which also sucks... Being Alive!!!!... so NOT suck!! :D

Hope to start being a little move active now, but I really have to take it easy so i will be building up it bit by bit. Look forward to hearing from my friends and again and meeting new ones

Have a wonderfully wicked halloween everyone

Love Lady Lynn
