Getting up extremely early tomorrow morning to beat the pre-Christmas rush in Dublin.
I absolutely love the city this time of year. All the significant streets are decorated with beautiful lights, and everything just feels so cheery.
Looking forward to walking around, shopping for the people I love, and partaking in some of the tasty seasonal food I've been missing due to my diet.
Tuesday is the first day I go back to my normal diet.
I cannot WAIT for that cherry-almond scone and cappuccino I am going to have in Dublin Tuesday morning before I spend all day Christmas shopping. ♥
After two days of taking my temperature upon waking, the verdict is that my basal temperature is about two degrees lower than it should be.
This doesn't necessarily MEAN that I have a hypoactive thyroid, but it is a symptom of it. I'll continute the test for a few more days and then make an appointment for a blood test. It'll probably be awhile before I can be seen, however.
As for the diet - it's going okay. There are some improvements, though the ultimate goal of the diet will probably not be fully achieved this time around. I am considering going back on it for a time after Christmas.
Over the next few days I am going to test my thyroid. Apparently if you take your temperature every day when you first wake up, before you get out of bed, and the average is lower than 97.3, you may have a thyroid problem. It certainly would answer a few questions for me...
If my temperature indicates something is wrong, the next step is a blood test.
Feeling alright today physically, but a little discouraged on the emotional front. The symptoms that initially made me go on this diet are not yet subsiding. I guess these things take time.
Breakfast was plain yogurt.
Lunch was a duck-egg omelet w/ zucchini and onions.
Dinner was a soup of zucchini, asparagus, buckwheat, onions, and garlic.
Also had a nice salad with field greens, tomatoes, olive oil, and apple-cider vinegar.
Feeling slightly better today...
Breakfast was two boiled eggs.
Lunch was homemade asparagus and tomato soup raw garlic garnish and another boiled egg.
Dinner was brown rice pudding with cinnamon, butter, pecans, pumpkin seeds and xylitol.
I went overboard with the eggs today. I need to go food shopping...
Yesterday was my worst day. I ended up staying home from class because it felt as though I'd been beaten up and had my limbs tied to lead weights. Today I'm a bit better. Still tired and the ol' digestive system is off, but it's a HUGE improvement from yesterday.
Breakfast was yogurt with a handful of pumpkin seeds and xylitol.
Lunch was a salad w/ greens and tomatoes and a dressing of apple-cider vinegar and olive oil.
Dinner was a beef burger patty with rosemary and pepper, homemade ketchup of sauteed tomatoes, raw garlic, and apple-cider vinegar, and some steamed zucchini on the side.
Yesterday I made a broccoli soup with a bit of yogurt for added thickness and lots of garlic, and I really liked it. The texture of broccoli has always been a huge hurdle for me gag-wise, but in a soup it's lovely. Definitely will be making it again.
On another note, I realize this little dietary diary is probably boring to a lot of people, but I'm finding the daily chronicling to be a helpful part of the process.
I think today has been my worst day - not psychologically, but physically. I feel like I hit a brick wall. I'm sore, exhausted, and I look exhausted. Being hungry when I'm at school is impossible. There aren't quite so many veggies as there are fruits that you can take out in class and munch on, and the cafeteria has nothing.
Breakfast today was yogurt with xylitol and pumpkin seeds.
Lunch was two boiled eggs, a tomato salad with apple-cider vinegarette, and half of an avocado.
Dinner was a stir-fry of chicken and veggies with yogurt, pesto, onions, and rosemary.
