confirmed! Heading to the Scenario Paintball Championships in Oklahoma Oct 13-14. What an opportunity!!
I hurt.. my entire body is sore. Almost as sore as it was last weekend. But it's that good kind of sore that you get when you push yourself to your limit.
Spent the weekend getting ready for the world championships... fundraising and training. It's the second one that i'm all sore from, the first was just a good time. :)
We're getting better in leaps and bounds as team, and it's showing in the way we're playing, practicing and even talking about what's coming.
I have no illusions though. I do not believe we're going to win this, but I do believe that we're going to place well and gain the needed experience for next year.
Regardless, the pain is good as it means that I'll be that much more prepared and do as well as I can.
Well, after a phenomenal weekend of paintball, the dust has settled and the muscles have uncramped... Here's the breakdown:
Saturday we played 3 games, winning all 3 decisively and handing us enough points to be ranked 2nd after the first day of play. Well done for an amazing group of guys, especially considering that I had the only tournament experience at this level prior to this tourny.
Sunday began with our last round robin game. Despite the other team listening in to our radio frequency (not something disallowed, but not really anything anyone had thought to do but this team) we pulled out an excellent victory!
After all the seed points from the qualifying tournaments were added, we ended up 3rd overall going into the semis and drew the defending champs.
To put it simply, we got beat. While we gave as good as we got, their experience at this level gave them the advantage. That simple.
At the end of the day we ended up 4th overall in Canada and won the sportsmanship award. The latter alone is considered equal to placing first, with the prizing equivalent.
So, despite not winning the whole thing, we're still seeded for the world's in Oklahoma in oct!
Woohoo!!
Thank you for the support that was sent my way by those of you that said it, thought it, typed it...
Yeah, you probably have NO idea what that is, do you? lol
Canadian Scenario Paintball Player's League.. and the Championships are this weekend. My team is going in ranked 1st in the country and we have high hopes of winning and getting to the World's in Oklahoma next month...
First game, 8:40am Saturday. Am I ready? Pretty confident in that area. Is the team ready? I think so. Nervous yet.. getting there. I mean come on, it's only the BIGGEST paintball opportunity for me in 15 years or so... yeeesh.
The markers are cleaned, oiled and packed, gear is ready and mostly packed... guess it's time to stop procrastinating and get it all done so that it's all ready for tomorrow.
Wish me luck....
Well, Saturday was the Canadian Paintball Pistol Championships.. the weather was perfect, well, maybe a tad on the hot side, the competition excellent and the format challenging.
After the 4 events were all over and done with, I placed well. Not as well as I should have, but well. See, there was something 'hinky' with the scoring; several of the competitors' scores were not what they had tallied themselves, myself included. At the end, the field owner admitted to miscommunication and 'possible scoring inconsistencies' and vowed to have it altered for next year.
With it all said and done, 2nd in the quick draw, 4th in both the obstacle course and the target shoot, 5th in the 1-on-1 challenge, and I placed 3rd overall. Not bad for my first National Championship! BUT, if you take the independant scoring into play (several competitors were keeping track of almost everyone), I took 1st.
Well, it was a great day and phenomenal competition so I won't complain too too much this year. I had fun and met a lot of elite caliber players whom I'm sure to run into in the future.
Shaharia's getting me the pictures that were taken, so they'll be up soon. Heck, maybe I'll even make one of the paintball mags!! lol
and you say I"VE got an accent?? Talk aboot (lol) Louisiana drawl!!! lmao
good talkin to ya at last! Next time, longer is in order, eh?
:)
A while ago I mentionned about my paintball team qualifying for the Canadian Scenario Paintball Championships.. well now I get to mention that I've qualified for the Canadian Painball Pistol Championships this coming Saturday! Yeay me!
Things seem to be shaping up in that area of my life. All of a sudden I'm back to where I was years ago in the sport, only with a different group of players.
I guess all those years of playing and practicing are paying off:)
