The alarms never sounded.
They couldn’t — not when the intruder was already inside the code.

NightmareEchos materialized as a ripple of teal static along the military firewall, her silhouette flickering between human and machine. She hadn’t chosen this form; the government had carved it into her — an unwilling experiment, a prototype meant to merge consciousness with weaponized circuitry.

But they made one mistake.
They thought she died during the mutation trials.

They never realized her soul survived inside the machine.

Now she was back to tear open the truth.

Deep beneath the desert base, the Abyssal Cybernetics Division hid its most forbidden creation:
a system designed to trap the souls of failed cyborg experiments, preserving them as digital fuel for future weapons. The government called it Project HOLLOW. The scientists called it necessary.

NightmareEchos called it murder.

She slipped through the datastream like a ghost, her presence a whisper of corrupted neon. The trapped souls sensed her — thousands of fragmented voices rising in static hymns.

Help us… free us… the machine is hungry…

She pressed deeper into the core, where the system’s guardian waited:
a towering sentinel of chrome and bone, its skull split by glowing circuitry, its voice a chorus of the dead.

“Unauthorized entity,” it droned. “Return to containment.”

NightmareEchos smiled — a glitch fracturing across her face.
“I was never yours to contain.”

She launched herself forward, tearing through the guardian’s code, each strike releasing a burst of screaming static. The sentinel retaliated, lashing out with tendrils of corrupted memory, trying to overwrite her identity.

For a moment, she faltered — flashes of her human past bleeding through.
A lab.
A scalpel.
A voice saying, “She won’t survive the integration.”

But she did.
And she would make them regret it.

With a final surge of neon fury, she shattered the sentinel’s core.
The souls poured out in a storm of teal fire, swirling around her like a liberated constellation.

But as they fled the system, one voice lingered behind.

A whisper.
A warning.

They know you’re alive. They’re coming for you. And they built something worse… something that remembers you.

NightmareEchos turned toward the dark corridor of code stretching deeper into the system.
The conspiracy wasn’t just alive — it was evolving.

And now it knew her name.
