Oh, yes, the Morrissey show was last weekend!

My husband and I drove six hours down to Connecticut to see Moz live, in concert! I've never been to a Morrissey show, but it was pretty much like I expected.

Just before showtime (8pm) some video footage was projected onto a big screen of old retro 60s and 70s bands like the New York Dolls and Shocking Blue. I wasn't familiar with Shocking Blue at all, but the leading lady sure seemed right up Morrissey's alley alright. The the screen was lifted up and Morrissey took the stage with his backing band and they leapt right into "This Charming Man," a Smiths classic. Now, I'll tell you right up front that I'm not all that familiar with Moz's solo career, but I'm a MAJOR Smiths fan from waaaay back, so I was ecstatic. Yes, I didn't know ALL the songs he played, but he did about 3 Smiths songs ("How Soon Is Now?" and "Ask" which was totally unexpected!) and few others of his that I did know including "You Better Find Out For Yourself" and "Black Box." I would have liked it if he did "The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" since that is such a classic, and I would have lost my shit if he did "Jack the Ripper" but hey it's his show.

He really did entertain pretty well, stopping to talk to the audience between songs, he shook about everyone in the front row's hand and handed the microphone to half of them. He even signed an autograph during the show! Oh and I mustn't forget to mention how he ripped his shirt off and tossed it into the audience TWICE! The fangirls up front went rabid.

Unfortunately, the show ended before 10pm (less than 2 hours) and there were NO ENCORES. Half of the audience members were completely outraged at this, but come one people, do you not know Morrissey's personality AT ALL? He can be such a little prima donna sometimes... are you REALLY that surprised he took a curtain call and left? Really? Seriously you guys... they're striking the set... he's NOT COMING BACK so stop it, okay?

The next day we met up with a friend of ours who lives in Connecticut at the Foxwoods resort and we goofed around at the arcade for a while. Yeah, forget gambling... OMG Ms Pac-Man??? And we played Dance Dance Revolution (the first time for all three of us) and it was hilarious. We also did some air hockey (i think our friend is an air hockey hustler of some kind). Afterward we had an expensive dinner then looked at some photos and called it a night. My husband did do some Texas Hold 'Em, but I stayed in the room for the evening reading comic books and watching television.

We drove home on Monday and then it was back to real life and work on Tuesday. Real life sucks. I have to do laundry in real life.

*laughs* The laundry's not so bad once you get over the initial bit of it.... It all comes down to muscle memory. That's why I'm able to fold things and put them away without looking at them. I already know what's there. *giggles*

Sounds like you had an awesome time though...

*jealous* ^_^
