So we have a thread in the House for Ebay/Craigslist/amazon.com finds and I had posted a picture of a crown that I wanted to give to my daughter for her 18th birthday. Well I decided to get it and then I made a post in the house thread about the backstory behind it.
Figured what the heck, if I can share it with them my Vr House Family, then I can share it here for the rest of my Vr Family and friends.

Okay I caved.. I bought the crown for Wolfbite.. No one better tell her either... : looks at you all: Not kidding..
So here is the back story behind the crown..
Once upon a time in a land far far away.. not kidding.. am on the east coast now and this story takes place on the west coast.. ahem..
There was a Princess in dirty clothes and messy hair and a smile that kept on for miles. This Princess had a little brother who was the Prince of the little kingdom known as the house they lived in.
Now their mother had to separated from their father for reasons of domestic violence and abuse, for the safety of the Prince and Princess whom she loved with all of her soul. She swore to protect them and gave up the kingdom where they lived and did so with no regrets.
Now the mother had some skills and was able to find work in the land and provide for the Prince and Princess. Though life was not as the mother wanted it, it was still a life that was being lived. It was hard work, long hours, baby sitters and public bus rides early in the morning and late at night. But they made due and where grateful for everything they had.
Now the Princess and prince had birthdays coming up and the mother asked the Princess. "My little Princess what do you want for your birthday?" The little Princess replied. " I am a princess and I would like a crown so that everyone knows on my birthday that I am the Princess." It was not an unreasonable request and the mother was already thinking of ways to make the Princess a crown.
She then turned to the Prince and asked him the same question. "My little Prince, what do you want for your birthday?" His response was kinda shocking to the mother. "I want Legally Blond movie and Batman with the Freezer Guy in it." The mother nodded her head and said. " Your wishes are my command my Princess and Prince."
The next day the Mother took the Princess out to the warehouse building next to the small apartment they lived in and they found a little Korean store set up inside. Now the mother had searched long and hard for the materials that she would need to make the crown for the little Princess and just needed a few more things to make the project complete. The Princess however changed all of that when she squealed with joy and said. "Momma Momma I found my crown!! I found it!!"
Encased in glass in the little Korean shop was a crown the Princess fell in love with. It was to big but over time she would definitely grow into it. The mother asked to see the crown and showed it to the Princess and asked her if she was positive that this was the Princess' tiara the Princess confirmed that it was hers. So the mother counted out the money needed to buy the Princess her tiara and though it took all that the mother had, she knew in her heart that the Princess would be happy.
Unbeknown-st to the mother the Prince had wandered off to the next little shop and the mother quickly discovered him missing. After all she had great practice with the Prince and Princess vanishing and turning up again.. The mother was not above shouting and yelling to find the Prince and Princess and so with little fanfare, this time, she found the Prince and discovered what had gotten his attention. The movies he had requested.
Now the mother didn't have the asking price for the movies but the man in the other little Korean shop said that was not a problem, he would barter the Prince for them. After 20 minutes of back and forth the Prince proudly displayed his wares, handing over a sucker, $6 and a hot wheels car that was green and a hug to the elderly proprietor.
With that done the mother took the Prince and Princess home to their little apartment where the Prince drove everyone up the wall for weeks on end with the Legally Blond movie and then for several more weeks on end with the Batman movie.
It became tradition that every morning the Princess' tiara would rest upon a pillow freshly polished until it gleamed by the mothers hands.. Ready for the Princess to wear for the day. The Princess would awaken from her slumber and see the tiara there and squeal with joy.
She would brush all the tangles out of her hair and bathe and put on a dress and her tiara and everywhere she went in the land, everyone knew she was indeed the Princess. At night when the Princess would fall asleep the mother would tiptoe into her room and gently remove the tiara from the Princess head and place it back on its pillow and put it away.
So here we are.. fast forward many years and the Princess has grown into a young woman and the Prince is becoming a young man. The princess' tiara has seen better days. It has been smashed and dropped, squished and bent and broken in a few places and there is even a gem missing from the center of the tiara. But always it is loved and cherished.
It is polished by the mothers hands and placed upon a pillow for the Princess the morning of her birthday. The mother no longer puts it away for the Princess as she does that for herself now. It is one of her most prized possessions and a reminder that there was a time when all that the mother could give to the Princess was a Tiara for her birthday, because the mother loved her with all of her soul and would always do her best to give the Prince and Princess the things that the needed.
So in a few months the Princess with reach the age of 18. The tiara is getting a bit small for her head and the Princess worries that something will happen to it and she will not be able to pass the tradition she started with her Mother on to her own daughter. (Should she have one in the distant future after age 25... ahem..just saying..)
So after much discussion with the new Ruler of the Land of my House, King Khornesone decided that the Princess does indeed need a new tiara only a Princess' tiara does not suit his little Princess. She will receive the crown that the mother has found and on the morning of the Princess birthday when she turns 18, there on the pillow will not rest the tiara of her youth but instead the Crown of her future. For though the mother has always tried her best to provide for the wants and needs of the Prince and Princess, she has not been able to. The needs have always been met one way or another, the wants not so much.
And yes the Prince still has those darn movies and if he plays them any time soon I am putting them in a box and hiding them in the garage.. again.. oi.
