I've heard of many people's disappointment in adaptations of established stories. Whether comic book, game, manga or novel, live action adaptations rarely stay true to the source material to one degree or another. We've gotten the displeasure of witnessing that first hand with Cowboy Bebop and the rightfully cancelled atrocity that Borrowed it's name for the sake of pulling its loyal fans in. That... was painful to watch, to say the least. Then there's Harry Potter where my daughter continues to educate me on how the movies just kept making the stupidest of narrative exclusions that are substantial in the books. Though the cuts are numerous and some would say egregious, those movies are still mostly liked. I could list examples all day but what I'm leading to... is Halo.
I just finally forced my way through that show. And all my questions could culminate with.. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
Milli Vanilli would be fucking proud at this laughable theft of concept and regurgitated story.
If all it takes for me to get my own ideas to be put on tv is to take hostage an extremely successful IP and then just rewriting my own rendition of the story, regardless of whether it makes or not... then I can also be a "successful " creator. The fans won't know it till they're sitting on their asses watching my work anyway.
Even alternate universe story arcs have more respect for the material they are meant to be linked to. I assume of course, from the lack of outrage.
This thing is just slightly more disappointing and enraging than finding out Halo gota deal with Megablocks and not LEGO. And yea... this show is certainly the "Megablocks" rendition of Halo.... for sure.
