hadows surround us



always invading our lives



some people are kept hidden



not always by choice



they beg and plead to be let out



still it seems that no one can hear their voice



amongst the shadows where they dwell



they are sad, vicious, and forgotten



there is no reason to reach them



to help or tell



as i think of them



I realize I'm not as lost as I once thought I was



my past haunts me to this day



it's mine and nothing I do can take that away.
