When you are the confidant for someone else it come's to no surprise when one may ask well.
I find it amazing when people say they never betray a confidence.
Especially when their actions have done so. It shows how hypocritical they really are.
To hold a confidence takes patience, trust, integrity, and most of all honor.
When you say a confidence is between you and another. It must stay that way. Regardless how the situation turns out. If you say you are sworn to silence on the matter, then it must remain so unless otherwise specified.
If you give your word that you will speak to them about a situation before taking any action, then you keep your own word and honor that commitment. Trust is very hard to obtain, and harder to keep once you have it. Many say they do not trust many, However, one must also look at both actions to find out where the trust was really broken. Understanding is a three edged sword.
The equation is Their side+Yourside+Truth= Understanding.
Some will want you to take their side in matters while others will turn on you in a moments notice to gain the upper hand in the situation they are facing. However, you must stay true to your Integrity even in the face of stupidity and ignorance. For when your integrity will shine through their ignorance of the facts.
There will always be those who will change course halfway through when the status quo changes in their favor or against them.
These are not true confidants, they are pretenders who love to fan wise words to gain favor for themselves.
A true confidant does not gain one's secrets for favors politically, or otherwise.
A true confidant acts as one's personal advisor and assistant to help solve problems that person has entrusted to them.
