As a Soldier, I would like to think that what i am doing means something, but lately that is not how i feel. I am told that what i am doing means so much to so many. I am given thanks, handshakes, hugs, gifts, all for what i am doing. But when things do not go the way you, the people, think it should be going, you turn your backs on us, the Soldiers.
I understand the feeling of hate towards us. i feel it too. But what i don't understand is why do you love us one minute, then want us dead the next. When war breaks out, it is always the Soldiers that you blame. When a innocent life is taken in a war, a Soldier is to blame. Yes, we are there when it happens, but does that make it our fault? We fight for you, we die for you, we bleed for you, we cry for you, we love for you, we hate for you. Why are we always to blame?
We do not preach at you. We are not headstrong about what we do or who we are. Most of us turn down your gifts, we do not need nor want them, all we want is your praise, to know that you care about us and wait for our return home. Why do you think that it is our fault?
For war?
For the deaths of the innocent?
For the reason every other country hates us?
We are like you, we do as we are told. We do what we, the Soldiers, feel is what must be done to keep you safe. Does that make us to blame? Does that make us guilty?
I speak to you, not as a man, not as a Father, not as a American, i speak to you as a Soldier, a Soldier defending those that he loves. I do not kill for the fun of it, i don't kill the innocent, i hate to kill because i am killing those that ask the same question as me.....Who is to Blame?

While I don't understand the love/hate changes with some people, I do believe that you all as a whole are doing us a great service.

Tho I have never seen boots on the ground, and spent some time in GTMO working with the detainees, I served my country floating on a naval vessel, firing off aircraft to protect those that are the boots on the ground. I commend you for all that you have done and as a veteran, I salute you. I work for the VA so if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up and I'll do my best to answer them.
