Kept it local....

04:32 Sep 25 2016
Times Read: 299

After several days in bed due to an attack of pseudo-gout, I just HAD to get out. While I was planning to perhaps go up to New York or out west, I thought it would be best to keep things local as I was still in a bit of pain. Not exactly the weekend I had wanted but its better than being in bed!!

Feeling like an ACM again.

02:16 Sep 15 2016
Times Read: 333

After a LONG dry spell, I was able to induct two people this week. It really feels good as I was beginning to feel like an ACM in name only. I mean thats what ACM's do, Induct new coven members and help the coven grow and I feel like I have been slacking off, especially since our coven lost some of its potential members to other covens lately. I know I cant be on 24/7, but it seems like I go offline for a few hours or even a day and the person I was watching winds up somewhere else. Its frustrating as hell. These inductions helped build up my self confidence a bit and made me feel like I am earning my keep as an ACM.

I was surprised that silverfang1620 contacted me to help induct them. I now understand how simple it is to do it and it was great learning experience for me. I am glad that the dry spell was broken.

Silverfang was one of the people I had bookmarked to watch for the coven for some time. He was slow to level, but he finally made it. I have others bookmarked as well.

9/11

06:15 Sep 12 2016
Times Read: 366

I'm a little late posting this, but today was the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and the plane that crashed in Shanksville, PA. Like anyone else that was alive on that day, we will never forget where we were and what we were doing during the attacks. I was 31 at the time and working for Merck-Medco Pharmacy Services in Parsippany, NJ. That day started out like any normal day. I got up at 5am, left the house at 5:30am as my shift started at 6:30. As always, with a stop to Krausers in Parsippany to pick up a buttered roll, something to drink and a newspaper or two, I arrived at my place of work a half hour early. As always, I would go to the break room, eat breakfast and read the papers and then punched in for work at 6:30 on the dot. My job at that point was to perform cycle counts, first counting the medications queued on the floor before anyone came in at 7:30 to dispense medications. Then I would count the queued medications in the warehouse and see if we were on the money or if there was a discrepancy between the book balance and the actual counted medications. If so, it was up to me to find out why and make the necessary corrections. This generally took all morning, sometimes all day if they didnt need help in receiving. Word of the attacks started coming in when the 9:30 shift started coming in. At that point, everything was very vague. All we knew is that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center and that it was on fire. Then when the 11:30 shift came in, we had found that two planes had hit both towers of the World Trade Center and that it had collapsed and was gone. It was now very obvious that this was a terrorist attack. We were a nation at war. Now the rumors were floating in. That the White House and Capital Building had been hit. That there were more planes out there. Our bosses, trying to get as much productivity out of us, said nothing until 1 or 2pm when they finally told us what had happened, without the rumors and BS. We were also told, that we could leave if we wanted to. Most people left. Since my shift was nearly over, I stayed until the end. One of my last tasks for the day, was going around the pharmacy, picking out burn creams, saline solution and other things to be sent to Liberty State Park for the victims of the attacks. I-287, my route home was eerily absent of cars. State police cruisers were everywhere. When I arrived home, the first thing I did was turn on the TV. Every station was of course covering the attacks. The footage of those attacks, shown over and over. I was absolutely numb. Even though the evidence was on the TV screen before me, I had a hard time believing what had happened. It was such beautiful day and yet 40 miles to the east, this carnage had unfolded. The very next day, flags began to appear everywhere and those numbers increased. I tried to buy a flag that Thursday on my day off, but all I could get was this tiny little flag you wave in your hand. I didnt care. I taped that thing to my cars antenna. It was a miracle! We were a nation united and feeling lasted for a little while. The flags on my car got bigger and eventually were the kind you could mount on the windows. I got a big flag for the house. For months and even a few years afterword, the flags remained. Sadly we became a nation divided again. Its sad. We pay tribute to those who passed every year but we still remain divided. We need to unite like we did after that terrible day. NEVER FORGET 9/11!!
