I remember when I joined in 2006 this website was so overloaded with active members it was crazy. Back when the levels maxed at 28.
Then you saw the advent of webcams. As well as other nifty new features included a level system that never ended. There was never I've made it to the top moment. Basically, having pushed through it all. I got to level 25 before the switch to the 100+ level system.
I was so close to achieving it after countless hours of ratings among other milestones to achieve victory. Being able to leave covens, and petition to be a part of covens.
I remember discussing the idea of becoming a sentoran, or procurator. I forgot who the profile name was obviously because it's been in excess of sixteen years roughly. Now I look at this website. It's dead.
You have no IDEA how much that tastes like venom coming out of my mouth.
It's so DEAD.
You only see for the most part true diehards like me who have returned on a new profile or those that have kept the same profile since the beginning while creating new profiles just to past the time here.
What can be done to revive this website in everybody's opinion? I mean technically our opinions don't matter because at the end of the day Cancer would decide what's best for his creation. If it didn't match that path, it would be dropped quicker than you could say "VR".
There are no more webcam feeds.
Is it you think that all the people who were interested just grew out of a phase potentially? Maybe life happened so they can't participate anymore?
I leave this by saying I miss the old VR. The laughter, conversation, and knee slapping good time it brought to so many people out there who felt ostracized by society.

Well, it's hard to remember somebody who has had several profiles on this website Angelus. I remember you quite well though. I was always interested in your journal entries. You had a gift for the written word. Astute. Unflinching in your beliefs. Well researched. Not one for dealing with negative feedback. Only the constructive kind that allowed room for growth. All so understanding as well. Even if there could be no harmonious mutual agreement.
I hope this finds you well if you come back to read it.

While I am not as many years on the site, it is sad to see it being so inactive. The chat room was a wonder to keeping the people on the site, I think. Even if you did not 'talk' in the chat, you were able to read it. Of all the site changes this one I miss the most.
I guess I am one of those whom you talked about . I left the site for a few years due to three deaths in my family. But I am back now, and hope to do my part in keeping the site active. As you said, one of the diehards.

Regrettably, life has a way of flipping the world topsy turvy. I'm glad to see you've returned as well. You're an astute lady. I hope 2023 brings you fortune.

This is just the way of all social networking sites, they fall out of fashion. And VR was always more of a niche one. People move on. It's sad to see the state if things when I remember how lively it used to be, there were at least 100 people online at any given time. Now, there are periods in the day where there are zero members on. There was always conversation to be had, interesting topics in the forums, the Vamp Box. Now... Now it's just a shadow of itself. But, I'm still here, and so are a number of older members, keeping this place going. It may not be what it was, but it's still VR.
I had honestly hoped that the adaptation of The Sandman and the new Wednesday would revitalize that goth culture, and on some level I suppose it might have, but not enough for it to really trickle down to this place. I really don't know if there is a way to breathe life back into these pages, because, as I first stated, social networking sites don't have lasting power. MySpace, Live Journal, Vampire Freaks, all gone or not at all what they used to be. It's just the way things go.

Yes it seems even the mighty Facebook is now headed out of mainstream. Tik Tok seems to be the new Facebook. Just as Facebook was the new MySpace of sorts.
Yes, I saw the other sites of the Dark Network had been removed. I wonder if Cancer would ever shut this website down once it reaches a point where it no longer can bring any sort of revenue, and is just draining money instead at that point.
What are your thoughts?
Yes all those features were hopping and popping back in the day.

The VR chat is still here and working, but new and reborn from what it once was. So many begged for it, and then once it was given back to them, suddenly no one uses it. I do have hopes that things will liven up as time goes one..... they say old things come back into fashion, right?
