...we f'ed up. Yes. Well, more to the point, I f'ed up. It happens to everyone once in a while. I wish I could go back to Friday afternoon and fix it...
...this is going to gnaw at me all weekend.
...as I thought, I didn't win. I was probably the token small business guy thrown in so they didn't look discrimnatory against small businesses.
None-the-less, it was fun. I thank Morri so much for being there with me and keeping me sane yesterday! She is so much fun!
hey man, there was an open bar.
Stop with the negative crap. I already told you why you were in the category. You bust your ass and always give your all. You accomplish alone what those other businesses take 12 people to do.
At least you tried! That's all that really matters.
Wait..open bar? Hell it was worth just that. ;)
*pats on your back* We love you, that is all that matters. :)
Sorry, sugar- hate that you went through that but you know what? I agree with Morri- you do the work of 12 people-and no doubt do it better. And free bar....yea baby....
...with everything I need to do today, MUST the security on my computer require a restart every 20 minutes?
Must Microsoft make Vista to XP downgrades this inconvienent? FEH.
I guess it's a good thing when the last people to leave the networking meeting you're hosting leave 2.5 hours after it is scheduled to end?
...anyone ever seen that movie? Anyway, it keeps popping into my head with all the PTA stuff I've been doing lately.
I registered to have a vendor table to promote my company at a PTA "Shopping Night" event at our school. The organizer first asked me, "What can you do with your business there? We're really marketing this toward the home-business people like Avon, Tupperware, etc.."
Well, hey, I sell stuff too. It's not all just laptops and networking equipment - we have accessories, supplies, plenty of table-top mechandising type products. And it's an opportunity to market my company to a crowd of young, professional parents whose children all go to school with mine. So, why not?
Since then it has turned into a lot of, "can you help me with this and this and this," from her. I've gladly done it - today I went and picked up 10 cases of soda, donated by a local major bottling company. They weren't going to get the donation originally, but fortunately for them I have connections...
..ok, my mom is actually the person there that handles the donations - which they didn't know - so one phone call later, they had their soda for the event for free.
It's not just who you know, but how willing you are to use them to your advantage.
The event is this Friday - can't get here and be over with soon enough though! And I still have to prep for my own display.
...back to work, slacker! *kicks self in butt*
You have been an absolute saint to those incredibly disorganized people.
Now they're saying I might not be able to have electrical to my table because they had so many requests the school is afraid of over-loading the circuit.
HA! First come, first serve, I say! And I was one of the first 5 vendors to send a check.
o.O All that work and they are going to try and stiff you? Oh heck no. Get there early and take that plug in! Knocking some little kids out of the way if you have to. As long as they are not yours, that is.
We brought in a new 21.5-Inch LCD panel for a demo unit for the trade-show events we have this month. Sometimes I can't believe how quickly the prices on these things have come down and how quickly the world changes around us.
When we first participated in this trade-show about 6 years ago we brought in a 19-Inch LCD panel - top of the line Samsung until which we're still using in the office. Even with a substantial discount from Samsung for it being a demo unit, it still cost over $650. We were the only vendor at this trade-show with a display monitor.
This Lenovo 21.5-Inch blows that one away in regards to contrast ratio, response time, energy efficiency and sceen clarity... and the list price on it is only $169.
Fast forward to yesterday's trade-show - same one we did 6 years ago... at least 50% of the vendors had a digital display or TV.
I see these changes every day, but it still amazes me to think about them at times.
Still have to put together a whole bunch of printed collateral for our upcoming table-tops.
And wonderfully, my printer is requiring a maintenance kit change, so I'm going to have to get one on order to deliver tomorrow.
Otherwise it's going to be a pretty lame table-top on Saturday.
Got the marketing labels printed, now I have to stick them on 300 packages of coffee. Have a meeting this afternoon, 3 proposals to write, my office to clean, and an appetizer to make before the networking meeting tonight.
Oh, and just got a trouble call from a customer because the boss deleted his network printer from his workstation and they can't get it back.
And of course, my tech decides to take the morning off...
