My cousin Andrew's wedding was this last weekend, up in Lake Havasu City in Arizona. Which means I drove about 500 miles in a little over a 24 hour period, but it was worth it. I drove up with my mother and my aunt Stacy, as Logan had Mina for the weekend. It was a beautifully short ceremony, outside at the London Bridge Resort, so it overlooked a part of the lake. It did mean there was a lot of noise from the boats docking or leaving the dock, lots of loud music and people, which is probably why it was so short, but even with all that extra noise, it was beautiful. I'm so glad to see my cousin so happy, and with a person who makes him better.

My brother brought a date, some person he's been seeing since December. She seemed nice enough, but really, I'll never be close to anyone else my brother brings home. It took years for me to be fully comfortable with Liz, and she's been in my life since I started high school, so for the vast majority of it. I just don't have to desire to really get to know anyone else. She's always going to be my only sister-in-law. When it comes to my wedding, no one is getting a plus one, no one is bringing a date. It's only going to be my mother, father, Kevin, Liz, and the kids. No dates for anyone. I did get to tell my brother I am non-binary, and he... He was nice about it, but I doubt he'll use my chosen pronouns. I also talked with my aunt Stacy about it. And while she said she doesn't believe in that, she would respect my choices. I can't really ask for anything but that.

So yeah, it was a nice weekend. Sometimes it's good to just get away from everything and go someplace new. Granted, I've been to Lake Havasu many a time in my life, but not in the last 20 years, so it felt new again. Though it was weird to be there and not spend some time on the water.

These next few days I'll be making sure I have everything ready to go for Faire. I'm heading over to Logan's early, so I need to make sure I have everything done by Thursday. I was looking at my bodice and noticed one of the grommets broke off, so I have to figure out what to do about that. I think I'll need to buy a whole ass kit to fix it, the tool and the replacement grommet. But, that might be a good investment, because a few of them on that bodice should be replaced, as they're bent and a bit messed up from the way I leaned on the counter and them catching on the wood. I'll see about all of that later. I also bought a new (to me) bodice today, so maybe that'll be here in time for this weekend and I won't have to worry about my nice one until later. But, we'll see.

I had to block a family member from being able to contact me last night. I will put up with a lot of shit from my family, because they are my family, but if you cross a line, I will cut you off. My aunt Betty on my dad's side crossed that line. So, I told her we aren't family and she will no longer have the ability to reach out to me. I'm sure I'll hear all about it from my father at some point, and I'm sure she's bitching to any family member who will listen to her, but I don't care anymore. I'm done playing nice with people. So yeah, fun times.

In other news, it looks like Faire is going to be a little different this year at the booth. I got a text from Andrew inviting me to Square, so it looks like he's setting things up to make everything run smoother. And given that he's got two booths this year, I'm all for that. I assume this means that we'll start taking card payments as well, which would be awesome. We've been a cash only booth since the beginning, so opening it up to take cards makes everything a whole lot easier. You don't know how many people walk away when they're told we don't take cards. I'm excited to get to work and see everything set up. I'm also excited to try the new dim sum that Andrew is doing this year. And, mostly, I'm stoked to get back into an environment where I can be myself, no hesitations. Faire people always tend to be more welcoming and accepting than a lot of other people, so while it is a stressful and tiring job, there are a lot of good perks that come with it. I have a cousin's wedding this weekend in Arizona at Havasu, and then the following weekend is opening weekend. So, it's gonna be a busy time.

With everything going on in the US these days, I told Logan I'd give it two years. If things don't change come midterms, I want out of the country all together. So, who knows, a move to New Zealand may be in our future.

I swear, when Logan and I leave California, I'm cutting ties with all my family save for my mother, and Liz and the kids. The fact that I'm related to any of these people on any level is embarrassing.

Every day since January 20th, we've awoken to new horrors done by this current administration. Oh, a judge ordered then to turn a plane full of deportees around and they ignored it completely? Color me so fucking surprised. He doesn't care about the law, he doesn't care about the constitution, and he sure as fuck doesn't care about the the bottom 95% of the American population. Every single day, man. There's something horrifying every single day.

And now Husky Musky is sad and posting on Twitter about how his companies make such amazing products and he just doesn't get why people hate him. Hmm, let's think about this for a moment. Maybe it's because he's a Nazi. Or, maybe it's because he's dismantling the government for funsies. Maybe because he's fucking over American citizens. And he's a fucking Nazi. Can't overstate that one fact. I hope that Tesla stock goes to pennies and every single bank lending him money calls back those loans.

In other news, corned beef is on the stove for dinner, and goodness, does it smell delicious. I can't wait to dig into some good ol' corned beef and cabbage and potatoes. It's the best thing about St. Paddy's Day.

Andrew finally got back to me about Faire on Saturday. He replied right as I was getting ready to leave for the hiring event, which was great, as it saved me from having to go out to the Santa Fe Dam. So, I got that covered. I'm looking forward to Faire this year, as it turely will be my last here as a resident of California. But, in Texas, there's a closer Faire than TRF, and it runs the same time as the Faire here does, so I'll probably check them out next year and maybe look in to working it. It does suck to be leaving the Faire I grew up attending, but such is life. The one I was looking into looks a lot like Faire here, I was really surprised to see that it wasn't the same people running it, because it seems that similar. But, I suppose we'll see next year.

I have to hit up the hiring event for Faire tomorrow, as I haven't heard anything from Andrew after texting him last week. It's really not that big a deal, the annoying part is having to drive the 45 minutes to the site just to spend 10 minutes there talking to someone. It really just boils down to:

have you worked Faire before?
Yes, since 2019.
Do you want to work for the same booth?
If possible, absolutely.
Okay, we'll give them your info.

Simple stuff. If possible, I'd love to work for Andrew again. I get along with him and Bailey and Nick and José, we've been together for the past two years. But, if that's not available, any booth works. I would prefer the food court, because tips, but I'm not against any of the other stalls.

I got my two new skirts in the mail the other day, so that's taken care of. I really need to sort through my garb and throw away what isn't good, but I keep procrastinating on all that. I still need to fix my bodice, so I'll probably just grab a hammer and a towel and bang down the edges of the grommets that are all messed up. They aren't in bad shape, it's just when I leaned against the counter, they would catch on the wood occasionally, and it would bend the edges up. But yeah. Thankfully it is supposed to be clear this weekend, we've gotten quite a bit of rain over the last few days, and some hail yesterday, which was fun.

I always dread Faire in a way, when it gets close to opening, but once I get into the rythem and am able to interact with patrons, I mellow out. It's one of those things I love, but also kinda dread. I know it takes away time from Logan and I, but he said he wouldn't mind buying another season pass to spend the days I work there with me, be my drink bitch. Haha. I love that man.

I haven't been around much lately, I've been dealing with some personal things. I also took a bit of an extended stay at Logan's, where I didn't really want to spend any time here. It was nice to disconnect from a lot of things for a while.
