Love getting together with my friends for the holidays.
The food coma that ensues though... wow. That's some powerful stuff to have to fight off when driving back 40-minutes in heavy snow flurries.
This is the first time in a number of years we've had significant snow in November. The last time we did, it didn't snow again until mid-January. The pros and cons.... more snow is inconvenient, but I have so many potential outdoor winter shoots lined up already having some consistent snow is a good thing....
The photoshoot on Sunday was amazing. The weather held out, the location I chose turned out to be a big hit with the model - she loved it.
In seeing the finished images I posted for her, she said that I, "made her look like a goddess."
Upon seeing the images, the model's mother was moved to write a very touching tribute to how happy and proud she is of her daughter.
I think these, above all else, are some of the kindest and most genuine compliments I have received on my work.
But this is just the beginning. A magazine contributor told me she wants to see edgy from me, and she wants to feature it in a future issue.
Edgy. Compared to the banal spread provided by a couple more "seasoned" photographers recently published, a red sneaker would be edgy. But, I will provide. Already have the next shoot with this model in the planning stages.
Spent the entire day in studio today - five models, three MUA's and two photographers. I rearranged my house to be able to set up two studios at the same time.
It got a bit crazy in here.
But everyone loved it. The models were thrilled. The MUA's were thrilled. Apparently, photographers don't often say to models, "Let's do some head shots and professional portraits for your portfolio."
They loved doing it.
They were also impressed I had the forethought to feed them. I made roasted red pepper humus and mini pot-pies. They were thrilled they didn't have to go five hours without eating.
Personally, I'm just surprised I was able to bring it all together today and have it all run without a hitch working on very little sleep after a raucous night last night. Went to see the Macklemore show, after a pre-release event for a fashion magazine that wants to publish my work....
Post-show craziness didn't end until almost 3AM... and I was up at 7:30 to start cooking and finish cleaning.
But it was one helluva day. Now I have about 90GB of photos to clear off of my hard drive so I can make enough room to edit these. So much work lately. so many new images.
And more to come...
Awesomeness of tonight:
1. Getting paid to shoot a fashion show.
2. Being told by a magazine editor at said show that she has been keeping an eye on my work, loves it, and want to meet with me.
3. Being told by several models after said show that my photos were their favorites from the Fashion Week events.
Yeah. I'm on a little bit of an ego ride at the moment.
I fucking deserve to be.
