Sometimes I like to watch westerns and I always see the Natives with head bands on. This always makes me laugh. NOT all natives wore them. The myth that all did comes from Hollywood because they hired white actors to play Indians and to keep there wigs on they would tie head bands around there heads for the action scenes.... So there wings do not fall off..
Quote: The Indian headband is also well-known from movies and other popular images of Native Americans. However, this style of headband was typically only used by a few tribes of the northeast Woodlands.
I have to boast a little. I finished my sim today in second Life. I role-play in wild west area. About a year ago a friend contacted me and asked if I come and create an Apache Group since they knew I was real life Native. I said I would give it a shot and been there every since. We try to stick as close to the 1860's time frame as we can to make it authentic. It is a huge area with 32 sims connected. Each sim has created a township during that era. we all have worked very hard on it and even have been spotlighted.
A few years ago my group did a RFL In Second Life event were we raised 500,000 $ yeah half a Million for the American cancer society in the spam of 3 weeks. That was more then any other group In SL ever. The New York Times even came in world and interviewed us for the newspaper how a bunch of role-players raised this much. I was pretty proud of us and the ACA presented us with a statue of what they were using that year as there icon. Anyways here a screenshot.
Here is a screen shot of the RFL Award we won that year. ACA made avatars in SL to present us with this and had the Lindens created the award for us:
