I was a failing poet living with my mother in 1880 London. I earned the nickname "William the bloody" because my poetry was so "bloody awful". I fell in love with an upper class lady named Cecily Addams. Making a fool of myself by writing her poetry, she thought I was beneath her in the social order of things and broke my heart...well in all my heartache it must have given out some kind of energy all itself because it drew the attention of the psychic vampire Drusilla.

Little did I know my life was about to change when I was sired as a creature of the night-that's right a bloody vampire. After becoming a vampire, I returned home and sired my mother, thought my mother and Drusilla would make a happy family, but I couldn't stand my mother's ways as a vampire. I was forced to stake her and I went off with Drusilla.

Drusilla had two friends that she traveled with so... Drusilla, Angelus, Darla and myself were what you would call a vampire family I guess. I got the nickname "Spike" because of my habit of torturing victims with railroad spikes.

In 1898 Angelus, Darla, Drusilla and I visited Romania. Darla captured a birthday present for Angelus, a gypsy girl, which he drained and killed. Unknown to Angelus the girl was a gypsy princess, and her death enraged the gypsy elders that they crafted a curse that would eternally torment him: they gave Angelus a human soul. This would give him unbearable guilt for all his evil acts that he had done in the past and the ones to come in the future. Darla, Drusilla and I massacred the gypsies that cursed Angelus...Me-I just went along with it to slaughter the humans, bloody hell I did not give a piss about Angelus.

In June of 1900 Drusilla, Darla and I traveled to Peking, China. We fed on people during the Boxer Rebellion. Angelus rejoined us, and tried to continue his evil ways despite his soul. I was able to locate Xin Rong, the Vampire Slayer, and faced her in lone combat, tearing her to pieces, but before I could end her life she got in one good blow and sliced me right above the eye. Drusilla and I then made love in celebration of my kill. We rejoined Angelus and Darla, but Angelus was unable to take up his old ways, it was to painful for him and the piss ant grabbed a baby that he saved and ran off, I was like bloody hell did he know that babies tasted the best.

In August 1969 I attended the Woodstock festival in New York where I fed on a flower child. I spent six hours watching my hand move, I was stoned out of my mind. In 1977 I confronted another Slayer named Nikki Wood in New York City. We fought in a subway train and I was able to snap her neck. I took her leather coat as a prize, which I wore for several decades.

Drusilla, who was very weak, and I arrived in Sunnydale in the fall of 1997. Learning the local vampires were being hunted by a Vampire Slayer named Buffy Anne Summers, I agreed to kill her during the festival of St. Vigious to establish myself as the baddest vampire in town. Unable to wait, a band of vampires and I attacked Buffy during Parent Teacher Conferences in her school. I didn't anticipate this Slayer had friends and family helping her. I also found my old "pal" Angelus was now going by the name Angel and aiding the Slayer. The attempt to kill Buffy was a total failure. This greatly angered the local head vampire Colin, The Anointed One, but I responded by killing him. Honestly, why was I expected to listen to a word he said?

Even though I had killed two Slayers in the past, my attempts at ridding myself of Buffy failed. After bringing Drusilla back to health using the DuLac ritual, I was severely injured and confined to a wheelchair.

In 1998, during this time, Angel lost his human soul and turned evil again. He tried to win back former lover Drusilla. I eventually realized that all I really wanted was to have Drusilla for himself. I aided Buffy in defeating Angel's plans and took an unwilling Drusilla out of town, promising never to return.

Drusilla and I arrived in Brazil. While there, she sensed my aura reeked of Buffy and she couldn't stand to look at me. Drusilla kept having affairs with other demons, including a rather perplexed Chaos demon. I left Drusilla and went on a drinking binge.

Drunk, I returned to Sunnydale to get revenge on those I saw as making me look weak in Dru's eyes. Then I had a better idea, I tried to get Willow to perform a love spell to get her back. After a good head-clearing fight I decided to try and get her back myself by showing her I was demon enough for her.

I returned to Drusilla and tied her up and tortured her until she liked me again. This didn't last long as eventually Drusilla wound up in bed with a fungus demon and I gave up on her and left.

I returned to Sunnydale with a new vampire girlfriend, Harmony Kendall, looking for the Gem of Amara. The Gem was reputed to make any vampire who wore it unkillable. I found it but it was taken by Buffy, who sent it to Angel for safe keeping. I went to Los Angeles to get the Gem from Angel, but was unsuccessful.

After returning to Sunnydale I was captured by a secret government project called the Initiative. The Initiative conducted experiments on me, but I escaped them a few days later. I attempted to track down Buffy, only to find Willow, who had become her room mate in college. I attempted to drain Willow and discovered that I could not feed upon humans due to a chip implanted in my brain. If I tried to hurt a living human, I suffered intense neurological pain. I escaped both Buffy and the Initiative and went into hiding.

After Harmony dumped me and unable to feed, I made an offer to my worst enemy, Buffy. I teamed up with the Slayer in trying to learn more about the Initiative, who they were keenly interested in knowing about

Buffy had a dream about a group of demons called the Gentlemen coming to Sunnydale. The following night, when I stayed over at Xander's place, the Gentlemen did come, using a magic box to steal everyone's voice. When Sunnydale awoke the next morning everyone had lost their voice, and the Gentlemen started to collect hearts of their silenced victims. Riley Finn and the Initiative soldiers were sent out on patrol to keep the peace in Sunnydale and hunt down the cause. Rupert did research and discovered that only a human voice could stop the Gentlemen. Tara tried to team up with Willow to find a magical cure for the loss of their voices, but ended up nearly being taken by the Gentlemen. When Xander mistakenly believed I had attacked Anya, Xander beat the crap out of me, winning Anya's heart. Buffy went hunting for the Gentlemen, where she ended up accidentally meeting and teaming up with Riley against them. Riley destroyed the magic box that held their voices and a single scream from Buffy killed the Gentlemen.

I bordered on suicide from my lack of being able to kill. When I learned I could still hurt demons, I helped the Scoobies(what Buffy and her friends called themselves) destroy a gang of Vahrall demons who were trying to open the Hellmouth and then parted ways with them.

As tension mounted between Buffy and her little sister Dawn, Harmony returned to Sunnydale as head of her own vampire gang with plans to kill the Slayer. Buffy, Rupert, Dawn, Willow and Tara discovered the owner of the local magic shop dead from what seemed to be a vampire attack, Harmony's gang. Going over the scene of the crime Rupert realized how much money was to be made in a magic shop. Harmony's plans fell through when she went to Buffy's house only to learn Buffy was out, and Dawn was being watched by Anya and a Xander. Dawn accidentally invited Harmony inside, but Xander fought her off. When Buffy learned what Dawn had done she scolded Dawn. I crossed paths with Harmony in the graveyard where I made fun of her attempts to be a leader, but I also gave Harmony the idea to kidnap Dawn. Harmony's men grabbed Dawn. Buffy beat the location of Harmony's lair out of him, slew the gang and saved Dawn, although Harmony escaped. Rupert bought the magic shop, despite Buffy's warnings that the shop owners have a short life expectancies in Sunnydale.

When Buffy was nearly killed by a lone vampire in a routine night of patrolling, she became obsessed with how other Slayers were killed. She decided to talk with the one witness she knew of to other Slayer deaths, me. We went to the Bronze where I recounted my life story, and how I killed two Slayers in the past. I insisted there was no secret to killing a Slayer, that all Slayers have a death wish and one day Buffy would give in to hers. Buffy insisted I would never be the one to kill her because I was beneath her, which hurt me. No one needs to hear that twice. I went back to my crypt, where Harmony tried to talk me into leaving Buffy alone, but I took a shotgun and planned on killing Buffy once and for all. When I arrived at Buffy's home, Buffy was crying over her mother's medical condition and I found himself comforting her.

I learned that my chip no longer stopped me from hurting Buffy. I had Warren check out the chip and discovered it was working perfectly, so I decided that Buffy must have come back from the grave different. I confronted her with this and we fought, which eventually turned into sex.

Buffy tried to keep herself away from me as she supported Willow with staying away from magic. Buffy even went to far as to cut her hair when I commented I liked it long. In a devious plot by the Trio to sneak into the women's locker room unseen, they invented a working invisibility ray, with which they accidentally shot Buffy. Although Buffy at first reveled in escaping her life and enjoyed a day of pranks and sex with me, she was shocked when she learned the ray would eventually kill her. Willow was able to track down the Trio, but they captured her. Buffy rescued Willow, was cured and learned of the Trio's existence, just before they escaped.

Anya then accepted D'Hoffryn's offer to become a vengeance demon again. She returned to Sunnydale and when Xander didn't want to marry her, just continue dating, she attempted to wish him out of existence, but was frustrated because she couldn't grant her own wishes. She attempted to get Willow, Tara, Dawn and Buffy to wish something bad on Xander, but they were not any help. She then planned on getting me drunk and getting me to make a wish, but we ended up having sex together in the Magic Box. Through a secret camera planted by the Trio that the scoobies had uncovered, Xander discovered Anya and me having sex and nearly killed me for it. Bloody ponce. During the fight it was revealed that Buffy and I had been having sex, and Xander walked away disgusted in both Anya and Buffy's choice in lovers.

In Africa, I approached a shaman about wanting to be like I was before. The Shaman challenged me to trials to get what I wanted. I started my first trial, a fight to the death against a demon with flaming fists.

I defeated the second trial, then after defeating my final trial the shaman granted me my wish, returning my soul. Not what I had been expecting.

I returned to Sunnydale where I set up in the basement of the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High School. There I was plagued by spirits and voices in my head. When Dawn fell in the basement, chased by spirits, Buffy showed up to help, and briefly saw me.

Buffy told me I should get out of the basement of Sunnydale High School, because it was making me crazy, but I said I had no place to go.

A demon attempted to kill Anya for D'Hoffryn, but Buffy slew the demon. Buffy then decided she had to get me out of the basement of Sunnydale High School, so she got me to move in with Xander, despite his protests. Dawn then came to notice a high school football star named R.J. Brooks and became obsessed with him, going so far as to try out for the Sunnydale High School Cheer Leaders and sabotage a rival football player's career. Eventually she even dressed like a slut and got him to notice her. Buffy wasn't happy at this development. When Buffy tried to have a talk with R.J. she ended up falling madly for him too. Xander determined it must be a love spell working on the sisters. While Xander and I were able to discover that R.J.'s family had a history of being good with women because of an enchanted letterman's jacket, Willow and Anya also fell under the spell. The girls then started to compete for R.J.'s heart. Willow attempted to turn him into a woman with magic, to eliminate the competition for him from other women. Buffy tried to kill the principal who had been tough with R.J. at school. Anya went on a thieving spree to try to win his heart, and Dawn tried to kill herself to prove her eternal love. Xander and I were able to interrupt Willow's spell, stop Buffy from killing the principal and together we saved Dawn. We then were able to steal the jacket from R.J. and burn it, freeing the girls from the spell.

Buffy went to Xander's house to check up on me after learning I might be killing again. She discovered I was out for the night and told Xander what she had learned. He agreed to have me watched to learn if I was killing again. Buffy then went home to and discovered the house torn up with Willow and Dawn up stairs. Willow told Buffy that they were both visited by evil spirits in the night pretending to be people they knew. Buffy told them about her knowledge of me, but they were worried it might also be a false lead. Xander got Anya to watch over me while he left for the evening. Buffy tracked me, and discovered I was meeting women, but wasn't able to follow. I was killing again, but under the hypnotic control of a mysterious spirit manifestation only I could see. Buffy confronted me about my meetings with girls, but I claimed he couldn't hurt anyone and wouldn't want to anyway. I merely spent time with girls because I missed Buffy. Willow researched on the computer and discovered a rash of missing persons in the last few days. I started to remember bits and pieces of the killings, and started to investigate, even going so far as escaping from Xander's watch of him. I went to the Bronze where he was met by a female vampire who claimed he had recently sired her. The vampire and I fought, and I staked her. I then remembered more and called Buffy, telling her to meet me at a house. Spike told her he remembered killing people and burying them in the basement. The spirit then activated my hypnotic trigger again and I attacked Buffy, being joined by the vampires rising from the basement floor. I couldn't bring myself to hurt Buffy and broke out of the spirit's control, while Buffy staked the other vampires. I tried to get Buffy to stake me for what I had done, but she refused to play along, guessing there was an invisible force playing them all. Buffy then took me home to try to learn what I knew of the evil spirit which was haunting them all.

Buffy tied me up in her bedroom to see to my recovery and try to find out what I knew about what was haunting them all. Buffy tried calling the Council of Watchers in an attempt to locate Rupert, but they were no help. Willow went to the butcher shop to pick up some pig's blood to feed me, only to come across her old enemy Andrew, who was also buying large amounts of pig's blood. Suspicious of Andrew's motivations Willow forced him to return with her to Buffy's house, where Anya and Xander interrogated him. Fearing Andrew would talk, the spirit haunting me triggered my killer personality and sent me after Andrew. I escaped and bit Andrew right as he was telling everything he knew about the Seal of Danzalthar he was trying to activate with the blood. Buffy saved Andrew and chained me up in the basement. The house was then attacked by men in robes who abducted me. After they made their escape, Buffy recognized one of them as the Harbingers of the First Evil, and realized it was the First Evil who was haunting them all this time. The Harbingers then took me to the seal and used my blood to release a powerful Turok-Han vampire trapped under it.

I was taken to another location where I was beaten and tortured by the Turok-Han at the orders of the First Evil, which appeared to me in the form of my former lover, Drusilla. She attempted to get me to choose their side, but I resisted her.

The First Evil continued to keep me captive in it's cave and appeared to me in the forms of Buffy and the recently deceased potential Slayer, Eve. Buffy killed the Turok-Han, and then went to the First's cave and rescued me.

I started to experience a breakdown of my implant which was going off at random. Buffy attempted to call Riley to get help for me. Unable to locate Riley, Buffy and I decided to break into the Initiative to get the drug they used to keep me sedated. In the remains of the Initiative headquarters, Buffy and I were attacked by a demon, which Buffy slew, then discovered by a military team who said Riley sent them to help. The military were under orders to help Buffy in any way she needed, and offered to repair or remove my implant.

Buffy lead the potential Slayers and her friends in an attack on the Seal of Danzalthar. She gave me an amulet given to her by Angel as her Champion, then positioned Xander, Rupert, Dawn, Anya, Andrew and Robin to protect the exits and lead the potentials into the seal. Willow and Kennedy cast a spell that empowered all the potential Slayers with full Slayer strength. Buffy fought bravely against the horde of Turok-Han vampires inside the seal, but was severely out-numbered. Anya was killed by a Harbinger of the First Evil. My amulet activated and rays of pure light decimated the ranks of the Turok-Han. Buffy's team retreated as I stayed to finish the job, causing the collapse of the seal and destruction of the entire town of Sunnydale as well as my own death. The survivors in Buffy's group escaped in a school bus and made it out of town at the last moment.

At the time of my death Satan comes to earth to collect my soul himself only to learn things will not be going his way, Satan begins dragging me to Hell, only to be interrupted by the Divine Light, which accepts Me into Heaven amidst my selfless sacrifice. Witnessing the escape of his reviled enemy, an enraged Satan rips a hole into my chest and starts up my heart once again, resurrecting me for the further opportunity to condemn himself to Hell, before disappearing.
