Come one, come all
And sit you down
The show has yet to begin
From road or river
You all hold a dark mirror
But who will look within

A candle burns
Another burns out
Twisted, humanity crawls
Saint or sinner
Though never a winner
Hoping the mask never falls

Lost on the byways
Forgotten, ignored
We all search for what we don't need
Reaching for worth
Pain buried by mirth
Yet word is rarely followed by deed

So quickly rushed from
So easily destroyed
Rashly denied till no more
In old age we lament
Some even repent
But only when deaths at the door

Face at the window
Whispers in the night
A shiver but you know not why
Often reviled
The call of the wild
But your own nature you can not deny

Friendship is fleeting
Words wash away
Popularity a whore I don't follow
So come join the show
But after please go
For inside this person is hollow

Standing alone
Never touching another
For no one do I give that trust
I make my own way
And chose never to stay
In survival we do as we must

A loner by choice
A hunter by nature
Do not awaken what lies beneath
Trust not the smile
Only used to beguile
Be warned this creature has teeth

My interests are many
But my passions are few
And I choose what I share of myself
So don't try to know me
Don't pick at or probe me
I am happiest alone on my shelf

As a child I walked her streets
Her beauty blinding me with love
Faded now she yet still shines
And always in my heart she stays
A welcoming home for the lost and the strays
Holding up a glass to happier times

So now this show is ending
The lights dying one by one
There's nothing now for you to inspect
No corner to hide
And no reason to bide
All that's left are your rates to collect

So a happy journey
And a long, long life
I wish you one and all
May your path be well lit
And may you never slip
Through the cracks that make most of us fall
