| A Rubenesque young woman in a black miniskirt and punk-plaid top sits watching the moon, tapping one combat boot as if she is bored with unlife. Her auburn hair flows, unbound, down the pale skin of her back. As if she senses your approach, she turns her attention toward you, revealing dark brown eyes that bely her apparent age; their depths hint at centuries of life and many horrors in her mortal life before. Her turning was surely a mercy, given the scars seen in her eyes. As you come closer, something hard flashes across her eyes and her face settles into an impassive mask. "Are you looking to have your night spoiled?", she asks. Her voice is the dangerous purr of steel covered by rich velvet. When you don't answer, she shrugs, picks up a leather jacket, and stands to leave. "Have fun," she says. "I'm goin' hunting." She walks off toward Uptown, the epitome of the cocky, streetwise young woman suggested by her apparel. As you watch her go, she lights what appears to be a cigarette, and the strong, distinctive smell of Djarum Blacks reaches you while she stalks away toward her next victim. | A little about me: I appear to be about 33, I am 5'6" tall with dark reddish brown hair, and I have a distinctly curvaceous figure. I am a web and database designer by trade, and run a small costuming business on the side. Unfortunately, I've been out on disability for most of the last two years, but have been working closely with my doctors to find a diagnosis and treatment. Since starting the last set of new meds in December, it's been a little better, and I'm starting to get my life back. It's not completely normal, but it's improving, and I'm taking it one day at a time. |

Grandpa G.--My best friend and dearest confidante when I was young, the one person who actually made sure I knew he was there for me unconditionally, the adult I could tell anything and not have to worry about whether I was earning a beating for not being perfect, my co-star for our impromptu Weihnachtsleid concerts in mid-July, and the man who taught me to fish. Jeni Wilson--A true sister, too gentle for the rough world we lived in, caught unawares by a gangland drive-by, cradled in my arms with her blood pooling around us, gasping for her last breaths...I wish we'd had more time to spend dancing and eating ice cream instead of having to be watching our backs every second.. Grandpa H.--the stealth pagan whose fondness for rocks and nature got me interested in stones at a young age, whose living room was set up with a number of stones to the point where you didn't notice the larger ones marked the four cardinal directions, whose lilac bushes, narcissus, hyacinth, and tulips I would raid on a weekly basis from the moment they started bloooming until school ended or they all died. Joylee Holly--My aunt, from whose example I learned to be the best person you can be, given the circumstances, to make the most of the hand you're dealt, that the true purpose of the Macarena is to have fun and make people happy. She learned it during the last months of her life, before the cancer got her, even though her mental development had permanently stopped at age 10 due to scarlet fever, and asked that it be played, and danced to, at her funeral. Cody McMenamy--My cousin, the little brother I never had; with his brothers, the cousins I would always make time to see if I knew they were in town--a lumberyard accident at 20 was a cruel blow to his mother, when his father had suffered a stroke 5 years before... Bryan Corns--A classmate and friend of mine, he died the same week as Grandpa H. Because of some bitch out to kill as many people as she could, intentionally spreading her disease, I will never again appreciate black hair against perfect pale skin, never see those impossibly blue eyes framed with their long curly lashes look my way, dancing with laughter in response to an unspoken comment, never again feel those arms wrap tightly around me in a hug that shut out the world. Sheena Dia--The one I forgot many times was not human, until she stuck her cold nose on me, my constant companion throughout her life, who shared my hamburgers and my strawberries, whose cheerful, placid demeanor made her the best friend a little girl could have, her bright blue eyes speaking volumes, tongue lolling, tail thumping against my legs as we ran all over the property, who would have climbed trees with me if she could but waited patiently at the bottom each time for me to come down. |
