I flock to people who are intelligent. Not because I think I am 'so smart', but because I am sure there is something they can teach me just by knowing them. I'm a seeker. Learning is my favorite thing to do. Maybe they are into the same things I am, and they've thought of something I haven't and will share it with me. Maybe I was never into the same things they are, and their passions are just inspiring. I've found that learning about people that are different from you can give you the greatest respect for topics you never gave a thought to prior. But in this case, this person is interested in many of the same things I am.

Michen joined Vampire Rave a couple months before I did, but I dove in here like a mad dog, and he was most likely far busier with his offline projects to spend as much time here as me. He's a musician, a damn good one. I've listened to his bands online, and felt a Dream Theater inspiration there in the Moonlit Pandora music I listened to. Yep, that good. Hard rock, yet technical and smart.

Michen is from Germany- that might've been my first draw to him. I have mostly German blood, and have never been there. I have always felt such a magnetism to Germanic countries and truly enjoy speaking to people in those areas. Something that really caught my eye was what a great communicator he is in English. English is definitely not his first language, yet he speaks/types with a great respect for my own native tongue. In this online world where so many English speakers couldn't give a care how they type, spell, or all around interact in English- I hold these second language speakers in great esteem. If this is your first impression, how will you use it? In a laissez-faire manner? I care about language, it's wonderful to see other people care about it, too. Even moreso when it's not their own.

The third thing thought caught my attention with Michen was the way he spoke about his wife on his profile. I found that so sincere. It wasn't there because she'd ever see it to earn him 'brownie points'. It was there because this is his life, this is a staple of his being, and is something he felt needed to be shared. It's there because there's no way he could tell you who he is without mentioning her.

Michen has been very candid about personal issues in his journal. I glaze over these kinds of entries all the time- but never in his case. He's not sharing here for people because he 'needs' attention. He really is using his Vampire Rave journal as an outlet to express and note his journey. He is evidently (in my opinion) a very genuine person. He is in some ways, typical of the 'artist': so much going on in his head, sometimes enough to torture, always enough to produce beautiful things. I want to keep reading about Michen and keep hearing him play the drums.
