Very interesting article.However it is obvious that the author didn`t read the Romanian words: she only heard them and translate the sounds into writing.Romanians rarely use Y and never the letter J read as I (Gradina Dracului, Iadu Dracului and Pricolici are the right way to write those words).
The info here appears to be very true, after my knowledge, and some people respect those traditions and superstitions in the country even today.
Theses superstitions may be the last traditional and naive resistance of the myth in the European culture from which the sacred was banished in the age of Illuminism.
The author seems to ignore one essential source of these supperstitions: the Roman (the word strigoi has a Roman origin)and maybe Dacian mythologies inherited by the Romanians from ancient times.
