When the Universal classic motion picture "Dracula", starring Bela Lugosi, was released in 1931, it did not have a score, as is common in films today.
When Universal wanted to re-release the movie for it's 70th Anniversary, they had composer Philip Glass create a score to accentuate the movie. He worked with the Kronos Quartet to perform it.
This CD is the result, a brand-new score for a classic film. The CD itself is a wonderful, simple quartet of classical music, with a definite mysterious atmosphere.
The new DVD release of "Dracula", which was the tie-in to 2004's "Van Helsing", features the ability to watch the movie with and without this new score. It would be a nice treat to watch it both ways.
But this CD allows you to listen to the music and appreciate it all on its own.
